And speaking of buying, going back to Ian Jackson: saw a discussion on him that he compares himself in market value to former Baylor/now-BYU point guard Rob Wright. Wright apparently got $3.5 million from BYU. Jackson sees himself in that realm.

Meaning: Kentucky can't operate up there at this point. Or maybe they can, but have shown they're unwilling to.

At the end of the day I feel if Pope didn't see value or have plans for them they wouldnt be on the team.
It that the goal? Just to start a whole wrath of crap and watch the world burn? Good job, if so.

Not at all. It's just mind blowing how so many UK fans are quick to give up on our freshmen and throw them under the bus.

          Crazy 🤪

At this point I could care less what position Oweh plays as long as he's playing for UK later this year.

BYU is literally the only school who can pay that kind of money for players of that caliber. Wright and Jackson are good, but are they the elite of the elite? That’s who deserves that kind of money.

I don't think anybody is throwing them under the bus in this thread. Rather, I think it's obvious to anyone who has any concept of what Pope is trying to do that the freshmen class from last year isn't going to get us to the promised land.

As a person who has said publicly on this very forum that he's only satisfied when we win national championships, you of all people should know this.

Ian Jackson would COOK under Popes system, but he's not getting 3.5 mil.

Nobody is throwing them under the bus, they just know that playing them major minutes isn't conducive to winning a title.

                  THEY AREN'T THAT GOOD.

It would be like if Cal started Dominique Hawkins and didn't recruit DeAaron Fox (not comparing Lowe to Fox, obviously).

This is a good example actually because Dominique Hawkins became a really good player for us in his role. I think the same will be the case with Chandler and Noah. Chandler because of his athleticism and size could be a guy who's a major factor in this program down the road.

But Pope has been looking for proven. Right now none of those freshmen from last season are proven.

I think the definition of whether you're elite is relative. You can only be elite in the context of others. And at this point, with not a ton left at the very top, Jackson might be elite.

In a vacuum, though? Nah, not even close. If Ian Jackson is elite then Otega Oweh is a superstar of the highest caliber.

However given what's out there and looking at him comparatively to the rest of the portal then yeah, Jackson probably will garner that much money from somebody.

                          Well, he certainly is now.

More than his form and inconsistency shooting the ball, I think one of the biggest drawbacks of him is simply how long it takes him to get his shot off. That's a huge problem in today's NBA.

Maybe 10 or 12 years ago Oweh is a first rounder. With the way they play now? I can't imagine it.

But as I said he's so freakishly strong and physically conditioned that he might get some looks. He's the very definition of a "gamer."

He was explaining that we didn't need Wilkerson because Oweh is already a 2. I busted out laughing for obvious reasons.

Please tell Dad I said Otega Oweh has hit 48 total three pointers in three years of college basketball.

                                I actually did.

He then somehow turned that into a screed about how Donald Trump is playing 4D chess with the world.

This is the kind of idiotic crap that I have to deal with with this guy.
