Is he a needle mover that just needs more minutes?

He was the sixth man on the team that just won the national championship, and was primed to be part of the starting backcourt for them this year.

      So yeah, needle mover.

Needle mover but uncertain if Pierre or Wilkerson would've been BIGGER needle-movers. Remains to be seen, nor does it matter because we got who we got.

Anytime you can get a player who played a significant role on a title team, you have to take him.

I maintain that Kentucky still needs somebody who can shoot the ball consistently from three. If you've got Lowe, Aberdeen, and Oweh out there...that's a very similar trio of players.

Aberdeen highlights. Very shifty player in space. Really good ballhandler at his size. Not as powerful as Oweh but plays similarly, looks like he could be a (much) better outside shooter with more attempts.

The roster as assembled looks very, very Cal-ish.

Looks like he watched that team last year, saw some of the obvious athletic discrepancies that were going on, and said uh-uh.

Doesn't look like he has a perfect balance yet...but "perfect" is very hard to get when assembling teams this way. We'll have to hope that some jumps happen with some of these players, primarily with guys like Lowe and Aberdeen in terms of their outside shooting. (Oweh and Chandler too.)

Kansas' Rylan Griffen will not be visiting tomorrow, as planned. Looks like Aberdeen got the spot.

Aberdeen has shot ~35% from 3 the last two seasons.

Also, isn't Johnson a decent shooter?

As a team we shot 37.5% last year averaging 25 attempts per game.

On a modest number of makes.

That said, I put an asterisk on a lot of things Aberdeen did last year statistically. To crack into that backcourt would've been tough. That he became the sixth man is a testament to what kind of player he seems to be becoming.

                        J. Kyle Mann says Aberdeen shot 45% on open catch-and-shoot threes.

FWIW, he’ll be sooooooo much better on defense than those two. Wilkerson, in particular, might as well be a road cone.

If this kid is a signee approved by Coach Pope, he's welcome to Wildcat Country in my mind.

I would hope that's the case. I don't think anybody is working behind the scenes to approve players Pope doesn't want.

Judging by how big this team is going to be and how he's made a point to target athleticism, there definitely seems to be a cohesive plan in place for the way Pope wants the team to look next season.
