Really disappointing about Dent. I assume he chose UCLA because of the location, but you do have to wonder if Kentucky still playing made a difference in that. Which once again begs the question: why in the world does the portal open before the games end?

One thing you notice about almost all of these teams playing: their point guards can shoot the ball. If your lead guard can shoot it consistently and be a playmaker, you can be a deadly college basketball team. Whoever Pope brings in, they need to be a guy who can knock down that shot without the defense backpedaling and messing up the offense.

UGA’s Silas Demary may now be at the top of Pope’s PG wishlist. Remains to be seen what Braden Smith will do, of course, but Demary would be a good pickup.

See, I'm not sold. Demary is fine, but he's not even an upgrade on Butler.

If PG1 ends up being Silas Demary, the only thing you could hope as a UK fan is that he's going to make a pretty huge jump between his sophomore and junior years. That's a disappointing turn of events if it goes that way.

This could be big, literally. He offers more rim protection than we had this year and supposedly has a little range on his jump shot.

I expected UK to get a feel for who’s returning, fill out the incoming freshman class (possibly adding another) then fill in the holes with 23-24 year old men. Williams and possibly Gwath would not be in that mold.

Not meant to be a complaint. Just not what I expected. Would make keeping Oweh even more important though. And I’d think there are probably players who haven’t even entered the portal yet—perhaps were in the Sweet 16 or the NIT.

But I understand—the bidding wars are on. If you want a guy you get him while you can. Just hope we don’t wind up a team of 19 year olds playing against 23 year olds. Might look familiar.

Edit—A Braden Smith, Otega Oweh backcourt would be a nice start. Good luck Coach!
