We all know Oweh's toughness, talent and value if he returns. I'm thinking, dangerous I know, but what if he finds out he needs to change his shot and he comes back and works on it so much it takes away from his game. I'll take this young man exactly like he was last year.
PJ Washington was one who *really* improved his outside shot. Another one was Patrick Patterson, who didn't hit a single three in his first two years and hit 24 his final season.
But you always wonder if a guy's going to come back and just be a different player, and by trying to be different he doesn't give as much value. That's always going to be a concern. You'd think a gamer like Oweh who plays physically, seeks contact, is about the most fit player on the court at any given time etc. would kind of rely on most of the things that made him so successful last season.Comment

Agreed. Work on it in practice. IF it’s working then, by all means—use it in the game.Comment

Keith Bogans tried out for the NBA as a sophomore and whatever info he go he messed his game up his junior year to the point he dropped. He came back as a senior and did mighty well. AND had a really nice pro career.
so I see totally what Lighthouse is talking about.Comment

I just think this draft is too stacked for Oweh. Even if you forgive the shooting and tell yourself some team could fix his form, there are just so many good players in this draft.
They say next year might be better...but I don't know. I just think this field is extremely crowded.
That's putting aside the question of Oweh ever becoming a first rounder. Who knows. But there are probably 40+ players who could make a stake for the first round. Brutal wilderness of talent.Comment

I think Bogans wilted just a little under the pressure his junior year, trying to have a year good enough to be on AA lists and become a first rounder.
Prince also was the biggest star on the team and garnered the most attention.
If nothing else, I’ll blame Carruth😀 1Comment

Originally posted by teamchemistry15As crazy as it sounds, his age also hurts the idea of drafting on potential. If an 18 year old freshman had the season Oweh did, he would get drafted this year.
The insanity of volume when it comes to three-point shooting in the NBA makes it tough for the old bowling ball/physically punishing types of guards like OO.Comment

For sure. I simply meant that an NBA team would be more likely to invest in an 18 year old with a broken form than a 22 year old. He's as old as a number of guys out there getting their second contract and going into their prime.Comment

I'll start sweating when mocks start showing him in the first round. IMO he's looking for a first round guarantee or he'll be back in school next year.👍 1Comment

This guy has Oweh as a "draft riser" after the scrimmages.
To note: for Oweh to rise in the draft, that doesn't mean a first rounder. He wasn't even on hardly any of the mocks before the combine. A rise might just be "in discussion as a potential second rounder" for all anybody knows.

During the 5 on 5 broadcast yesterday, Cory Alexander doing commentary urges Oweh to go back to school. Says the decision is "easy," then he can come back next spring and not have to play in the 5 on 5 to try and earn a draft spot.

NBA analyst Bobby Marks says there's a role for Oweh in the NBA, but he'd be giving up a "significant amount of money." Says the two-way contract is about $600,000.
