So, you think POPE went and got HAWTHORNE to push OWEH out the door because he went through the draft process which shows he isn't loyal to UK? Am I following correctly?

I believe he's saying ABERDEEN was the replacement for OWEH.

I do agree that POPE has to operate on the possibility OWEH might be gone. But he's saying that OWEH is definitely gone and that's why POPE got those players. Plus he's saying a bunch of other stuff about POPE not liking the lack of loyalty, etc.

So the main point that he had to get players to guard against OWEH potentially leaving I agree with. All the other stuff is whacky conspiracy theory madness.

Also the idea that OWEH'S stock is the highest it can ever be: how can JWORLD know that? That's a ridiculous point and just the dude sayin' stuff to hear himself post. It's beyond silly and not even worth digging into.

I'm actually really excited about the fact Aberdeen is on the team.

They don't even play the same position.

But, to the main point, every coach every year has to replace every player who leaves. If not, they simply wouldn't have a team after a few years. Great job figuring that out, Jworld.

If OWEH left I could see a situation where JOHNSON started at the 2 and ABERDEEN at the 3. Just because of ABERDEEN'S versatility.

It wouldn't be ideal and it'd leave us in a bit of a pickle. The main problem being that JOHNSON is a freshman and neither ABERDEEN nor WILLIAMS have shown they're a proven scorer like OWEH.

Here we go , 2 or 3 when Pope plays a 3 guard offense, but whatever.

                Williams 3

                Aberdeen 2

Everybody plays a 3 guard offense and has for years and years.

The difference in POPE'S offense specifically is side of the court and where they line up. But they're technically "guards."

WILLIAMS couldn't play the 2, probably, but has a lot of guard skill. Should be able to guard multiple positions at his size and length, same with ABERDEEN.

Offensively I'd imagine ABERDEEN will be doing a lot of what OWEH did last year: backcutting, moving without the ball, attacking in transition, etc. Can't see him being set up like Koby Brea was and running off an avalanche of screens. Don't think this team has a pure shooting guard like Brea, but we may make up for that defensively.

All I know if Oweh officially says he's gone, I will be as devastated as anyone on this site.

From the day we lost in the tournament, i have been very clear about Oweh.

It truly is a Jodie Meeks 2.o situation

Well let's keep our fingers crossed Oweh returns, all that matters. Could care less about what position guys are playing in modern day position less basketball, we just killing time.

Again, Oweh had such a great season it puts us in bad situation until the 28th.

                        Really, of all people?

                        It's common sense.

Some would argue coming back having a so so year working on his shot would actually lower his stock, especially at his age.

Besides the little fundamental things he can get better at, sacrificing his own game and proving he can be a team player is all he gains.

When teams plan and focus on him defensively, then what? No Brea or Robinson on this team until the newcomers ( Williams Lowe, )prove they can play major D1 SEC basketball.

Before you type, yes I know Alabama and Florida are in the SEC

You seem to've convinced yourself in your fevered, wild paranoia that he's going to do this. That's the whole problem.

Also, the next draft might be different. Weaker draft, better team around him, better all-around statistics, team goes further in the tournament...

Point is, you never know. Just chalking it up as "this is the best he's ever gonna do!" after one year at Kentucky is dumb.

Sure, the odds are against him because of how the draft is weighted toward foreign players and freshmen. But that's the case now, in this draft. I think he could help himself if things fell the right way.

                            ^^^
And you seemed convinced he will come back to be 1st Team All American, 1st Team SEC,shoot 40% behind the line, and be the go to focal point of Kentuckys offense.

                            Maybe maybe not.

In my opinion, he will not have as many opportunities with a healthy team statistical wise, still doesn't mean he can't grow in other areas.

As he showed in the NBA scrimmage games ( unlike Pettiford), he doesn't need 15 shots to score 10 a game.

He won't shoot 40% from three but he could get better, and being better by increments could theoretically help his draft stock.

But more than that you aren't drafted in a vacuum. You might have an easier situation next season. The field he's put himself in this season looks pretty dang strong.

I think he could actually win SEC POY next season. The field he'll be going against will look a lot different than it was this past season. Read: easier. AND he'll have a year in the system. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him be the best player in the conference.

Possibly and I agree with the last paragraph 100%

We both know this situation can go both ways if comes back or stays in the draft.

Either way, It will all work out.

I have a 57 track project sitting in front of me to be mixed, edited, faded, sidechained, crossfaded, bussed, compressed, eq'd, saturated, limited, gated, mastered and everything else in between. Enough basketball talk, about to lock in and get busy..

Oweh can make a great living coming back to Kentucky
