Agreed, two are already off the board and the draft hasn't even started yet.

Going to be a long wait until 11:59 pm 5/28/25..

Nets have a lot of players coming off the books and roughly 55 million in cap space. Giannis has been rumored to like the Brooklyn market, they may try to make a deal but who knows.

Anyways, I hope OWEH comes back gets paid and competes for a NATIONAL TITLE.

If anyone had him as a projected first rounder I would be nervous. You could have ten first round picks and you still wouldn't use one on a guy who isn't going to get drafted.

Well, the problem is that the mocks drafts are all “best guesses”. I doubt any teams are tipping their hands on their choices. Sure there’s some logical guesses, but once you leave the first 20 picks there’s always some surprises.

Just spitballing, but it’s easy to see a scenario where a team (the Nets?) sees something they like/want in a particular player (Oweh, in this case).

Meh, we’ll know in the next 36 hours.

I hope he returns, but if he is set on this more power to him. We will just have to see what Mark Pope can pull out of his hat this year.

Agreed. Typically when you see a "reach" it's drafting a player in the first that had a mid second round grade. You don't see many that draft guys in the first or early in the second that everyone has going undrafted. All of the "best guesses" are coming from guys who guess on this stuff for a living and they definitely have inside information.

Usually the guesswork about the draft happens in the second round.

There are some surprises in the first but generally there'll be 30-35 players everybody expects to go high. Then at the back end it just becomes teams taking fliers on players.

If he knew there was no chance he would've just backed out weeks ago. I suspect he's waiting on a phone call with a deal now that players who were going to be drafted are backing out.

Matt Norlander says that he still thinks Oweh comes back to Kentucky, but he's gotten very good feedback from NBA teams over the last five days. So the decision is a lot more up in the air than it once seemed.

                    Exactly,

Some teams will low ball a player and drive down the stock in order to get that player.

If you are running a NBA business, you want to pay 1st round money guaranteed or steal a first rounder in the second round?

If he comes back works on his game gets 1st round ready, why not just take him now at a lower price and let your own people develop him?

Personally, I feel he's gone, felt that way from day one. He played too well in a tough SEC league, hope I'm wrong.

                      Question in regards to Oweh?

He leaves now 1 year service how you feel?

Like a lot of one-and-dones of the Cal era: really good year, left a lot on the table. General disappointment.

But then you move on. I'm always much more interested in the roster we have rather than players trying to follow their dreams elsewhere.

Also would have to hope Pope could pull a rabbit out and grab one of these players who are still in the portal but have withdrawn from the draft. As I said that seems to me a longshot because there are so few of them, but anything's possible.

Agreed. Still feels like a slap in the face.

I always assumed and never questioned AD WALL KAT and a few others but the rest, at least thought we would get two years.

In this era, no one is safe year to year.Cal was always open to players making money in college then it finally came to fruition. In some ways, he was out in front and prepared us for these situations

See what happens but next man up.

Chandler is athletic enough to play the role of Oweh.

Taking a player now and letting your franchise develop him isn't as appealing to players now with NIL. I know you think playing in the NBA is the most important thing, but it's a combination of a number of things. Would a player want to make millions in college to develop the skills the scouts told them to and play their way into a first round pick or make a fraction of that in the G league to develop those skills to hopefully earn a spot? There's a number of factors to consider.

I still stand by the opinion that unless he gets a first round guarantee he will be back.

Quite possibly the worst take you've had, and that's saying a lot.
