It's odd that Auburn's Tahaad Pettiford, who seemed to be getting a lot of first-round buzz, is also still out there in limbo.

Maybe trying to wait each other out.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The clock is ticking, and Otega Oweh has a choice to make — chase his NBA dream now or return to Kentucky to try to raise his stock.

The Wildcats’ leading scorer has until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday to decide whether he’ll remain in the NBA Draft or come back to Lexington for a second season under new coach Mark Pope.

Oweh, a 6-foot-4-inch guard who averaged 16.2 points per game and brought energy on both ends of the floor, has drawn significant NBA interest. According to CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, he’s received “really, really good” feedback from NBA teams in recent days.

Still, it’s unclear whether that interest will be enough to push him into the first round — Oweh’s stated goal. He'll make a decision, Pope told The Cats' Pause magazine's Darrell Bird, after a final workout on Wednesday.

“This is a decision that’s going to depend on his ticker,” Pope said. “Because that’s what’s going to carry him through the next year.”

If Oweh returns, he would be the centerpiece of a Kentucky team that many outlets project among the top five in the country. Money isn’t expected to be a deciding factor — between NIL opportunities and his current draft projections, his financial outlook is strong either way.

But with a bigger college role comes bigger expectations — and bigger defensive targets on his back.

“He’s been dreaming about playing in the NBA for a long time,” Pope said. “So if he thinks, ‘This is my moment and I’ve got to go,’ then he has to go. That’s what we want for him.

“But if he feels like, ‘My heart is telling me I’ve got unfinished business at Kentucky,’ and he wants to run this back, then that’s what he needs to do.”

No, we all read that and we all said he's not his replacement. I just quoted where you literally said Chandler is athletic enough to be a replacement for OWEH. Did you forget your own posts? You did say you don't post just to post.

Except, as we have discussed repeatedly, that kid was never recruited to fill OWEH's role. He was recruited to fill Robinson's role.

OWEH has always been Pope's plan to replace OWEH.

Denzel Aberdeen was recruited to replace Jaxson Robinson.

                Good Lord.

When Jasper Johnson is starting at the 2 and Denzel at the 3 (even though it's a 3 guard offense), don't say I didn't warn you or you tell you so first.....

6'5 WAS THE REPLACEMENT FOR OWEH

Can Chandler (let me reword this s ) fill Oweh's role from a backup position (athletic, defender), yes he can in his limited minutes off the bench.

To even assume that I would think CHANDLER is going to step in and do what OWEH just did is CRAZY!!!!!!

Pettiford was doing to much in those scrimmages, wanted to desperately prove he was a scorer, no team taking him for that role.

Kam William and Noah would disagree

OWEH isn't going anywhere, and if he does go, Pope will recruit one more guy to replace him at the 3.

Williams and Noah are backups for OWEH, and Jasper Johnson will split minutes ago the 2 with Aberdeen, but Aberdeen will start there.

If OWEH goes, Pope will recruit a replacement for him to start. But the plan has always been for OWEH to be back.

                            PG Lowe > Butler
                            SG Aberdeen > Robinson
                            SF OWEH > OWEH
                            PF Dioubate > Carr
                            C Quaintance/ Garrison > Williams

That will be your starting lineup, at least to start the year.

Somebody pointed out on social media that Oweh may pull what Robinson did last year, which is not announce anything until the next day.

                              Hope not.

Robinson announced he was pulling out the day of, but didn't announce his commitment to Kentucky until the next morning.

It's a different situation. If OWEH comes back, he's not in the transfer portal.
