^^^But don't get me wrong...I really don't care whether they boot him or not. I get a bit of a kick out of how they seem to revel in being Sleazeball U while everyone knows it.

You know......in a way this is turning into the most stomach turning part of the whole deal.

you are in this mess because of big money, and you're wanting MORE big money to save the job of a guy who has overseen it, tied the school to an insane YUM center deal that everyone seems to think is golden eggs instead of goose crap and violated state nepotism rules by getting his SON paid out of the athletic department.

they want him back. They are threatening to do a Penn state and March on the presidents office.????

know what? Let them have each other. Our AD might make some bad moves, but I never thought he was criminal like this bunch.

They need to clean house and that includes Jurich.....if they retain him then they are the the dumbest university on this planet and they deserve everything bad they get

I'll say this: it'd be very easy to make a case against the Athletic Department that Tom Jurich essentially did nothing to ensure that the department was in compliance by the rules, and keeping him on has to make a 'Lack of Institutional Control' case a no-brainer.

Notice the interesting comment about the Adidas deal.

Jurich pretty much did that himself without consulting Postel. That's a perfect glimpse into the athletics program at UofL. Jurich has probably been conducting business that way for years.

And it's likely a major reason they are where they are. Everybody needs a boss.

Jurich lets coaches run wild as long as they win.

He let Bobby Petrino make an idiot out of him the first time, let him lie about meeting with other programs twice. Despite all that, he let him come back.
He let Petrino use a stolen play book last year against an opponent.
He let Rick Pitino embarrass himself, the University, soil a restaurant booth, let him convince an assistant coach to marry the woman he knocked up. Then he paid for her abortion. (I'd have fired him after this incident, personally).
He let Rick Pitino get away with "not knowing" about the brothel being run out of Billy Minardi Hall. (If I didn't fire him after the last incident, this would've been the one.)
He'd have let Pitino get away with this if Postel hadn't forced his hand.

He took $200 million from Adidas and presumably got his daughter a cushy job with Adidas. There's no way Jurich isn't up to his eyeballs in this, and to keep him on is to invite the NCAA to destroy your athletic department and turn U of L into a commuter school again.

We already know that they don't care about the rules as long as they're winning, but to keep Tom Jurich on staff confirms it.

How do they possibly even consider keeping him around?

Money talks. Ultimately, it'll be up to the university board. If I'm Postel and the University Board votes to keep him, I offer my resignation immediately.

Perhaps but not likely. They'd have to get booted from the ACC for it to get back to that level. ACC would probably love to boot them now but I feel they'll tread lightly with the UNC situation still on the table.

But if my posts don't show it enough...I agree with your sentiments in full. There is NO WAY any individual or group with a thread of integrity or common sense could conclude this was the last straw for Pitino but not for Jurich. Keep him and they might as well release a statement that there is no scandal that would separate him from the school.

Probably - but if the board votes to keep Jurich, it has to send a pretty strong signal to the NCAA that U of L isn't serious about fixing its structural issues. If Jurich is retained, I would have to think 'lack of institutional control' is a likely charge.

Pitino with a vintage Pitino move: suing for breach.

To even consider keeping Jurich is dilusional, tell me this is a joke right????

Keeping Jurich seems to be growing legs as the fanbase has realized it is a possibility. My guess is still that they can him but who knows? It's sad that Postel may see things for what they are and push him out the door and that may be his own undoing. Can he survive being the guy who ran off who so many of them see as the "best thing that's ever happened to the university?" It would really suck to be vilified for being the guy with morals and standards of ethics. Much like Myles Brand at IU for firing Bobby Knight. Knight's behavior seems a bit pedestrian compared to an entire rogue athletic department.
