The potential for Nike involvement is due to audio evidence in the Las Vegas meeting where one of the Adidas operatives says something about the other shoe company offering a kid more money, so we're going to have to up our offer. Whether it's Nike, Reebok? Don't know.

Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

My guess it would be someone very low key. I wonder if there would be any assistants in the Crum era who could or would do it? I think Crum had a stroke a while back so he would be up to a year of holding the fort even if he wanted to do it.Kentucky fan since 1971.Comment

Crum's 80. I'd imagine holding the fort might kill him.Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I can tell you that Merl Code, Jr., who played at Clemson and then worked for a number of years for Nike, recently left Nike for Addidas. Code was one of those indicted and the speculation is that he holds one of the "master keys" to the entire sports shoe industry relationship with the AAU, colleges, and professional sports agents. The thought is that Code will likely cut a deal with the Justice Dept in return for dropping a dime on his tainted business associates, coaches and players. This could REALLY blow up college basketball!Comment

I said earlier that the interim president at UL would not be as lenient as Ramsay was. He is handling this mess right and according to contractual issues of both Jurich and Pitino. This will save UL tons of money by not having to pay huge buyouts to either. It's clear both will be leaving UL as it should be. Crean's name has to come up because he is readily available although the possibility of being the new UL head man might appeal to Padgett or Davenport. Although I think Davenport would think long and hard before leaving Bellermine.John 3:3

Also an interesting note, Jerrance Howard was an assistant here under Billy Gillispie.Comment
