I like Deener but he's a homer, like Matt Jones, and he can be incredibly sensitive at times. (I've heard that he used to be the same way about Kentucky.) Probably not as bad as Howie Lindsay but it's very similar.

You know what you're getting with these shows though so if you don't like homerism it's easy to turn the channel.

Heard yesterday that Tony Vanetti is going to be on WHAS in the evenings, which will be good. I like him a lot. I always enjoyed listening to Lachlan but Lachlan at times could have incredibly bizarre, Colin Cowherd-esque arguments. Vanetti is a UofL fan but he's level-headed. Has the same talent for radio that I think Matt Jones does.

Deener is definitely thin-skinned. I called in one time and said he had a Napoleon complex and got cut off. To his credit, he was yelling at UofL fans calling in Tuesday morning saying "there's no way Pitino knew". Telling them it didn't matter - that either he was lying or he's incompetent and neither is what you want continuing as your coach.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

Vanetti and Dwight Witten have been on in the 6:00 to 8:00 slot on 840 since late April. It's been a real hoot so far.

Article outlining "Coach 2" (Pitino) and how he was involved....he and UL are so screwed!!

Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino is the "Coach-2" in court documents who allegedly helped funnel $100,000 to the family of recruit Brian Bowen, a source confirmed to ABC News.

I'm not a shrink but it sure sounds like Pitino has SERIOUS psychological issues, being a pathological liar right at the top of the list. No school is safe now, but I'm sure glad we have Cal instead of Pitino. Never thought I would say that. Jurich and Pitino thought they were above the average Joe. That, somehow, they have a different set of rules to live by. Colossal mistake on both of their parts. They put their pants on one leg at a time just like everyone else. Not sure what happens going forward with this, but whatever happens, they both earned it. Really odd feeling watching all this unfold.

The inside story of how the sting went down. Fascinating stuff at the beginning about an Atlanta-based clothier and former SEC referee:

For three years, college basketball -- from coaches to sneaker companies -- was in the FBI's crosshairs. By using wiretaps, surveillance video, undercover agents and cooperating witnesses, the scope of its work and the sport's corruption came to light.

And here I thought Pitino's forte was dropping his pants. What do I know!

Wow, i jus watched Stephen A Smith give Pitino and Louisville the business. Pitino going to be lucky if he manages not to stay out of prison for all of this especially when federal money is involved....

The money involved was not school money, it was Adidas/shoe company money. It was merely being laundered through intermediaries.

One can get all kinds of ideas in a barber shop. Today it was suggested that Tubby Smith would be a good coach to look at for the UL job.

As a UK fan, that's what I'd suggest, too.
