Freshman members of the University of Kentucky football team, William Daniels and John Cron.

Freshmen were second-class citizens in football until the rules changed in 1972!! There's a ton of pictures depicting the crowds of young men trying out for the team. They still chase the dream, but the primary obstacle now is within themselves!

50 Grayson Smith, DE (1996-2000)
Hometown: Salyersville, KY (Magoffin County)
He walked on to the University of Kentucky as a 218-pound linebacker and finished his career there as an undersized 250-pound defensive lineman, competing in one of the toughest conferences in the nation. His spare time in college was spent sharpening his boxing skills and Smith finished third in the National College Boxing Association as a heavyweight on a five-man team that represented UK.
