59 Mike Martin again. I think this is him receiving the defensive MVP award after the 1976 Peach Bowl (Kentucky 21, North Carolina 0). RB Rod Stewart was the offensive MVP. If Stewart hadn't suffered a gruesome leg injury at Baylor in 1977, Kentucky might well have gone 11-0 instead of 10-1 that season.👍 2Comment

59 Chad Anderson, a major recruiting win (out of Ohio, as was Anthony Hall) in the Mumme years.👍 1Comment

56 Dennis Johnson, a huge recruiting win in the Mumme years. He was a consensus choice as the best defensive prospect in the country in his class. I've wondered what he might've done if he'd played middle linebacker, like Jevon Kearse, instead of DE, or if he'd not had a wrist injury that limited weightlifting. I think the QB he's hitting here is Jon Denton. He set records that still stand at UNLV before transferring to EKU. He debuted as a true freshman starter in front of over 100,000 at Tennessee.👍 2Comment
