They won at Auburn, and lost by 1 to Georgia. Like many of the Claiborne years, they were so close to a turned corner and successful season.

So many years, UK did its football teams no favors with scheduling. The 1961 opener was against Miami, a team that beat Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and #8 Penn State that year, and finished the season as a ranked team. Why open with them instead of a hapless Indiana or Illinois that year? The same thing happened to the 1985 team. Coming off of a 9-3 season, they open the 1985 season against a team that went undefeated in the regular season. But for that, they’d have opened 5-0 and been 6-2 in early November when bowl scouts started poking around in earnest.

Same for letting Florida move the game from November to September. The program has seen a lot of mismanagement from above over the decades.

UK Nose Guard Dave Roller, 60, helps teammate Jeff Van Note, on ground, throw Missouri quarterback McMillan for a loss in Saturday's UK win. Roller was named AP's SEC Lineman if the week for his performance. Published Tuesday, September 24, 1968 (The Kentucky Kernel).

Where did you find those?

I search through memorabilia auctions and eBay and make screenshots. I keep a board on Pinterest but I've run out of room there. The University's digital library doesn't contain all of the game programs, but I've managed to collect most of them (just the photos without contents - but I've been able to get contents in some cases).

60 Dave Roller (1967-1970). All-American as a senior; named first-team All-SEC his junior and senior seasons and earned second-team honors as a sophomore ('68 season); named to the inaugural University of Kentucky Football Hall of Fame; one if the top 100 Wildcats named during UK's 100th Anniversary; and, 2015 SEC Legends class. He was chosen in the 13th round of the 1971 NFL draft by the New York Giants, and spent time with several organizations and also played in the WFL and NAFL.
