I watched less than 10 minutes and had to turn it off. As I told a friend...this is so over the top. I did watch enough to hear one of the commentators say he had not seen the likes of this going on for over 20 years. Will be interesting to see what UL's response is. Has to be taking a toll on RP. And why did the "madam" decide to write this book now? Or was that her plan all along?

And IF Pitino does manage to hang on, then boy oh boy, good luck landing a recruit from anything that resembles a decent family. No parents in their right minds would send their children to play for that program if changes aren't made.

Yes, they are...for today at least. If Rick refuses to step down and UL doesn't force him out, I can still see a scenario where it quiets back down and he stays.

We all know he has no morals and is a stubborn, old dirtbag. I don't see him ever voluntarily leaving.

The "coward's way out" line pretty much cemented his stance. That's like pulling a knife in a fight. You do that, and you take things to a point of no return: either you use it, or you look like an absolute fool for showing that hand in the first place. He's definitely too stubborn to back off of that now. He'll have to be "resigned." Here's the good thing: While Jurich may have his back publicly, there's been absolutely nothing to suggest that the UofL president and/or BOT feel the same way.

The problem is that they're at the brink of the season. The last thing an athletics program wants to do is just give up on an entire year and all the revenue that comes with it.

Would have been much better for them if this would've gone down in May. Then they would have had time to force Pitino to resign, go with an interim, put themselves on a one-year no-tourney penalty, and try to cut it off.

But because it came down in late September, what's happened now is that Pitino is going to try to fight it for the sake of the current players (and, obviously, for his own legacy). And you know the BOT will be split on this. So it isn't an easy deal.

What I imagine happens is they try to let Pitino get into the year, put themselves on the one-year postseason ban, and then have him announce his "retirement" in February so it can look like he was leaving on his own terms. Then they'll try to burn it all the ground and start over.

But he isn't lasting through an entire season. Ralph Willard likely stepped down because he didn't want to be the guy that got the reigns when the plug is pulled on Pitino.

He would be leaving a TON of money on the table by walking away. If (HUGE IF IMO) he agrees to leave I am sure they will negotiate some type of payout.
