Unsurprisingly, the media has blasted Pitino for ducking media day. Here's one of the articles from Mike DeCourcy:

Right IMHO. What's gonna happen when they go on the road? East Lansing, Duke, Notre Dame, Brooklyn NY, ? The fans are going to make SURE there's a distraction. What happens the split second he walks onto the floor at Rupp??? This will all be on national TV. Is the type of PR the BOT wants to tolerate? Do the alumni want their school drug through a manure pit....again? Cooler, wiser heads will prevail I think, and "changes" will have to made. They simply have to. JMO.Comment

Just think of the reception UL/Pitino will receive at Cameron Indoor.Comment

More than the fans, think of the questions about this from the media that he'll inevitably have to face at some point. Is he going to skip every postgame media event for the entire season? He could get the local guys to not ask him anything about it for his pregame stuff, but you're not going to be able to script interviews for some of these national guys who are going to attend UofL games just to get a chance to Q&A Pitino.
He didn't do a great job the last time this happened with the media, what with repeatedly bringing up 9/11. Not sure what he'll fall back on this time.Comment

Louisville released a 6 minute interview with Pitino in lieu of him not attending ACC media day. It's hilarious to watch because, come on, nobody cares what he's saying in response to these questions because there's one thing that people care to talk about, and it's this scandal. I wonder if the interviewer was like, "These questions are meaningless."
Pitino can't dodge this forever.Comment

Here's another classic.
I saw that the Gestapo (NCAA) was in Louisville interviewing people. Better them than me.
