Also: Oweh usually took the other team's best offensive threat. Robinson and Brea were the classic 2s in the zoom offense that Pope ran, running off screens and spotting up.

The fact that he could guard 1, 2, 3 is further evidence to his role as a pure small forward.

EDIT: Didn't notice that Will basically wrote this post verbatim on the previous page.

Offensively in the zoom, at least the way he played this season, Oweh attacked off the wing...like a 3. Brea ran through curls or ran in transition to the corner to get open looks...like a 2. Robinson was mostly a catch-and-shoot guard...like a 2.

If Oweh returns and he's your attacker, then logic would say that he would like to have that shooting/scoring 2-guard. Which is exactly what he's been looking for in the portal since the season ended. Yates, Pierre...both natural 2's to compliment (hopefully) Otega Oweh.
Oweh will be a 3 if he ever goes pro because he doesn't have the jump shot to play 2 in the pro's.

        And because he's not a 2.

          Oweh was a 3 here.

Maybe we're all talking about different things. In your definition of basketball positions, what is the 3, exactly? Maybe there's some confusion here or something.

To simplify simply because i don't have time for this bs this morning,

            Let's agree to disagree..

            Butler was the 1

OWEH ROBINSON BREA was all SF'S

Call if what you want, I don't care.

All I know is every tip off every game OWEH started off on the 2 guard from the opposing team at the tip.

He may have ran 3 plays on offense, guarded the 3 on defense but at the tip, he was the SG.....

Well let's just go ahead and start team chaos right now and get it out of the way.

Oweh was never a two, dude. He just wasn't. I don't know what else to tell you.

Let's not agree to disagree. You are wrong. Fake news. Alternative facts.

Otega Oweh is a classic small forward, especially in the way that Mark Pope utilized him. Jaxson Robinson and Koby Brea are classic 2 guards.

The irony of the conversation is that John Calipari had an enormously difficult time getting a pure 3 to Kentucky. Like ridiculously difficult.

Mark Pope of all people got the purest wing Kentucky's had in some years, maybe since Kidd-Gilchrist. That was always wild to me.

Whoever the other team's best player was, that's who he was matched up against.

I think what you're saying is that if a player guards the other team's 2, then he's a 2 himself. That...isn't how it works.

To not have time for this "bs" this morning you're awfully adamant.

Well let's just start team chaos
Why does this start chaos? Garrison played a backup role this year with what seemed like zero pushback. It's possible to have two guys on the same team who play the same position.

This doesn't have any impact on the position he plays while on offense.

Or maybe because times have changed and it's now ALL REALL JUST POSITIONLESS BASKETBALL for the most part.

So did OWEH mostly guard Small Forward's or Shooting Guards???
