    Grady
    Mintz
    Frederick
    Washington
    Allen

That's a lot of shooting a year removed from a team that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

This will also be a really different sort of team for Cal. He probably hasn't had one of these rosters since his days at UMass.

With only three frontcourt players (and that's being generous and counting Brooks as a frontcourt player) the ability of Daimion Collins being ready to play at a high level on day one is super important.

You probably have to go back to that 2011 team to find a UK team that had so few options up front.

Collins has incredible potential, but he won’t be day-one ready.

I sure hope Oscar turns out to be the beast we all hope he can be. Saw flashes of it last year but gonna need to be more consistent for us.

Having Jackson back would've been monumental, but again, we usually say that every year about a player or two.

Don't think so either. Problem is, there is nobody else.

The good news is that this is still a guards' game. I think if the guards are tough you can win with four guards. Baylor did, though in fairness Mark Vital is pretty much a power forward at a guard's height.

But Cal has always built his teams around looking into the post, kicking out, and then working off the bigs. It'll be interesting to see if he can give in and basically ditch the game where you play through the post like it's 1988. He even did this a little last year through Olivier Sarr and Jackson, neither of whom were offensively gifted with their backs to the basket.

I’m in “wait and see” mode with Oscar. He looks the part and has said all the right things since arriving, but who’s to say the Oscar we saw through the first half of last season isn’t just who he is?

A lot of people are expecting him to be a monster right off the bat, but I’m not so sure. I wish Cal were still going after a transfer big, such as the guy from Syracuse. Brooks will play the four with Hopkins behind him, while Oscar will start in the middle with Ware as his backup. I see Collins subbing in at both spots on a situational basis. Lots of question marks there.

Looked like he was going to be an all-Big 12 type of player after his freshmen year.

Really struggled last season and IF that's really who he is, Kentucky goes nowhere.

Agreed. Of course, he may have been truly miserable in his situation. Not discounting the impact that could have had.

Cal said today in his Zoom that Lance Ware will be playing big minutes.

Which means either Lance Ware has improved dramatically or we've got considerable problems in the front court.

This concerns me. I expected Lance to be a foul trouble player.

I would almost throw out a lot of what we saw last year. I think we'll see much different players this season.

Not expecting Lance Ware to go off or anything, but I wouldn't put much stock into the player he was a season ago.

Toppin is another player who I guess you could call a "frontcourt" player, but he isn't really. He can play big but he's much better as a rim runner/open-court athlete sort of player.
