And since you brought up Skyy, it’s worth mentioning that he seems to have reaffirmed his commitment and then some since getting to know O and Chin. Still wouldn’t say I’d take that family at their word 100%, but things seem as solid as they’ve ever been with Skyy.
No, I haven't seen him in person just started following him last year (sophomore season). I was watching some summer tournament (can't recall which one now) and he stood out, reminded me of a raw Bam. Then I started seeing him when ESPNU would air some high school games/showcases. This year he developed a mid-range. I think everything rides on if he can complete HS coursework by the deadline. I do believe if he goes the college route it is between Miami & UK. Can't be mad at these coaches that hire assistants to try to sway a player to come

I’ve seen a lot of Chris Webber comparisons, too, which seem pretty accurate thanks to Duren’s passing ability.

He’s an amazing player. Can’t really overstate how big his commitment would be for Kentucky, in terms of their success this season and lasting impact on the program. It’d be about as dramatic a “We’re back” statement as Cal & Co. could make, and I think it would vault us right back to the top of the list in the minds of most elite recruits.

^^^^Ahhh "college Webber" yes, I can see that comparison! Duren wasn't passing like that last year. He really must've been in the lab last summer because now he's a better passer, has a mid range (not to mention an occasional 3 pointer) and hook shot. He could always get-up-down-the floor quick for his size, play defense, shot block, rebound, and make shots/clean up around the basket.

I'm curious to see if he is going to have enough time to get course work done in time to reclassify. He's still playing EYBL and Peach Jam is in a couple weeks.

P.S. There is talk of Michigan (learning from a 'big man coach"), so UK, Michigan and Miami. But Team Ignite throwing over $1Mil (and who knows what the shoe endorsement would be) at you is something to think about too.

Guys have been “reclassifying” for years now. The cynic in me tends to think that with guys at this level—whether they’re able to reclassify—unless they’ve been terrible students for 3 years—depends on who wants them to reclassify. With tutors in every subject…why couldn’t he make it in time? Why pretend schools (real ones or athletic factories) won’t bend over backward for these millionaires to be?

Marcus Carr is removing his name from the draft and will stay in college for one more year, with a transfer as the most likely option.

Would’ve been a nice pickup, but I also agree Cal couldn’t wait.

Has anyone heard the buzz/rumor that Penny didn't entertain interviewing for the Orlando job because he feels he might have a good shot at JD?

I think he will narrow the schools (to include pro) in next few weeks and then he will finalize decision by end of July.

Watched an interview the other day that JD did 4/5 months ago and the host ask him who's game at the NBA level does he admirer; he mentioned AD, Bam and KD.

Has anyone heard how JD's UK visit went?

By all accounts, it went great. Staff is confident.

Penny is staying, and bringing on Larry Brown.

Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway announced Tuesday night he would remain with the Tigers instead of pursuing the Orlando Magic head-coaching vacancy, while sources confirmed to ESPN he's expected to hire Hall of Famer Larry Brown as an assistant coach.

What a shrewd move. I’m sure Larry Brown really connects with today’s kids.

I'm sure. But Brown is a coach, and the one thing Memphis needs is a coach.

He’s also a slimeball, which I guess makes him a win-win for Memphis.
