Drew Franklin says his source tells him Kentucky never reached out. Could be because Duren is the one they want or because Cal didn't think ****************burn fit at UK.

Pilgrim has said the majority in the program wanted Kofi, but several did not and were skeptical of the fit. I guess the skeptics won out. All in for Duren...

Or possibly there's nothing to that at all.
I think at this point UK is expecting they have their team set, given they officially tweeted the team #'s yesterday and just the general vibe. But if Duren wants to come to UK they won't turn him down obviously. He's still got a ways to go to complete the work to reclass. He won't be officially able to go anywhere for a few more weeks

Matt Jones says UK might have talked Kofi into going back to Illinois.

Wild. Kentucky must have just felt that ****************burn would not have meshed with our personnel. And also you have the added backstory of Coleman and Antigua having connections to the Illinois staff, so it's not like ****************burn was just some random player. That would have been really cold-blooded for them to bring him to Lexington if you think about it. Would have likely burned a lot of personal bridges for them.

I was skeptical of how Kofi would fit here, so I am glad he isn't coming.

If the 'UK talked him into going back to Illinois' thing is true I have to believe it has more to do with Cal looking out for Antigua and Coleman and less about him meshing with the team.

I can't bring myself to be glad that we're not getting a second team AA, but if he was never really an option and the experts were all in the dark then that kind of changes the situation.

Still think Kentucky is a gamechanging player away from being able to call itself a true contender. Have no idea if Duren is that guy or not but he's obviously got the body and the skillset.

I have accepted, and happily so that our roster is set. I agree that the addition of Duren would push us into that territory of high expectations but I am still looking forward to getting back a normal season and a team that has a lot of scoring options.

There's chatter that ****************burn is considering Florida State as well. I agree that it'd be weird to go through this only to return to Illinois - FSU seems possible though.

Sounds like I may be the only one disappointed. Had my hopes up for not only a revamped and extraordinarily experienced backcourt but also an incredibly imposing frontcourt. Not sure Cal will channel his inner Jay Wright and run a 3 guard offense to its fullest potential.

No offense but I’m not that concerned about being nice to Illinois. Don’t think Saban feels sorry for Auburn.

Eh, IF this was indeed a concern, I don’t think he’s worried about being nice as much as not burning a professional bridge for Antigua and Coleman.

I'm a little concerned, hope they have the inside track. Are they really sure about Duren c/o 2022 and/or he's not going to Miami? The only thing I feel real certain of is JD wants the college experience (and NIL helps that).

I'm sure others have had this thought but this hit me yesterday evening: maybe Kentucky didn't contact ****************burn simply because they badly want Duren.

We all thought Kentucky just cooled on Duren but it doesn't look like that's the case. It makes sense for Cal, given what we know about him, to be far more enamored with a phenom high schooler than the older guy.

I’m old school but I think the bird in hand is better than two in the bush saying would apply here. Both players are one year only and one has proven he can handle the Division 1 competition. If KC wanted to come here I would have welcomed him to the team. The other player is not a lock to come here even if he reclassifies. Maybe Cal didn’t think he was a good fit chemistry wise. I’m sure a lot was going on that we were not aware of. Hope everything works out.
