Took my wife to San Francisco, Sonoma and Napa for a week late last summer. The winery tastings were amazing, but one thing I didn't expect was the number of olive oil farms and of those still, the number that offered olive oil tastings. I wanted to hit a few but the wife wasn't interested, and as it was her birthday............. Next visit back we'll certainly hit some of them.
I mentioned earlier in this thread about the fraud regarding EVOO. Yes, it's illegal. I switched from Imported to olive oil from California Olive Ranch. It's VERY good in a side by side comparison with stuff from the EU.
Award-winning quality from California and beyond. With over 230 awards over the last 10 years, elevate your cooking with our extra virgin olive oils, vinegars, sauces, marinades, pestos, and sprays.
It's readily available at Kroger's or on-line.Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I remember your comments regarding the trip. I'd love to go there myself....never been to California. San Francisco, Austin, and Charleston are the only cities in the US on my bucket list of places known for great eating that I'd like to visit.Comment

There are olive oil/vinegar stores locally. The 1st one I visited was in Bardstown. There are at least a couple in Louisville. Been to the one in Middletown. There is a bigger one somewhere else. Also get salts and other seasonings. All can be sampled. Makes a big difference when cooking

I've seen a few of those. I'll have to check the one out in Bardstown.

I was just surprised that there were olive farms that rivaled some of the vineyards out there.Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I saw an Olive Oil farm special. Either one of the KETs or Cooking channels. Well worth the time. They were swishing oil in the their mouths like wine testers do. Very interesting. Am making a vinaigrette tonight to put on a salad that has fresh berries in it. Bought a sample bottle of the Chocolate/Raspberry Balsamic vinegar. I buy a couple of the small bottles to see if I like them. One oil I buy in a regular bottle is the blood orange olive oil. Sooooo good. Hope to get the time to visit the one in Bardstown. They also tell you how to mix oils with vinegars. A fun place to go.👍 1Comment

You must have worked a night shift. BTW...Mitchell is a Junior (gulp) this year. Looking for an internship for the summer in Louisville. Any suggestions? He is taking four, 300 physics courses this semester. This should tell what he is really made of...LOL!!! He will be getting with his advisor and filling out a resume soon. Hope all is well with you.Comment

That was interesting. Put an EVOO/balsamic vinegar dressing on tomatoes last night. The tomatoes were cool, but not frig cold. There was solidification where the oil had separated from the vinegar.Comment
