Gun to my head I'd say Grady probably plays the most minutes on the team. I just think it might be mostly at the 2...if Duren comes. With no Duren things are different because you can get Brooks and Toppin in a lot in the frontcourt.
Think C.J. Fredrick might be squeezed out a little.Comment

If TyTy can handle big minutes, you can get away with moving Grady to the two. Them at guard with Toppin, Duren, and Oscar could be one hell of a lineup.Gun to my head I'd say Grady probably plays the most minutes on the team. I don’t expect Fredrick to see a lot of time, but that could be fine. Fits the bill of an instant-offense guy off the bench. I actually think Allen may see less time than Fredrick, though.Comment

The problem is that Mintz, Frederick, Allen, and Grady are all similar players. Throw Washington and Wheeler in there, and that's a lot of similar guards. Also, with all this talk about shooters we all know Cal will defer to athletes every time.
If you've got a guy over there who checks the NBA boxes, who's a freak athlete, and who passes the looks test of a draft pick, that's who Cal will go with every time.
Not saying Grady won't play or anything because he obviously will. I just think one or two of these guards that we think are going to play a lot probably won't.
Somebody is going to draw the short stick, and while I won't name names, I think we know who's gonna be out first. It starts with an "A" and ends with an "llen."👍 1Comment

It's easy to say as an armrest Coach, but if I had that lineup of weapons they would all get their shot, and it would even be a game by game venture. Every shooter has their nights and its usually pretty easy to spot when there is one off for the night. Unless they are just a whiner, they should be able to accept the fact that they just aren't feeling it and with all the options available you shouldn't leave them on the floor. There is no Boston out there this year that Cal is trying to get to the lottery, so hopefully we don't see players left on the court for long periods of time that are hurting us.

Y'all don't get me pumped, I said I'm having a "wait-and-see" approach this season (I need to see at least 5/6 games). I thought I heard "word-on-the-street" that folks were not sure if Duren could get HS curriculum finished in time (end of July) to reclass? He attends a REAL school not like the Profilic Prep, Hill Crest Prep of the world. If re-class does go through and Kentucky NIL is in place, then yeah, I'm with y'all we have a really good shot to land him instead of pro route. But if Duren ends up staying in c/o 2022 trust and believe Skyy will be in his ear all-day-everyday!

Refresh my memory: did you tell us you’ve seen Duren in person?Y'all don't get me pumped, I said I'm having a "wait-and-see" approach this season (I need to see at least 5/6 games). And since you brought up Skyy, it’s worth mentioning that he seems to have reaffirmed his commitment and then some since getting to know O and Chin. Still wouldn’t say I’d take that family at their word 100%, but things seem as solid as they’ve ever been with Skyy.Comment

Certainly. But even a shred of uncertainty may be good for us.
Duren isn’t the only one to consider here. Chris Livingston is supposedly down to UK and Memphis, too, if he chooses college.Comment

I would love to see Penny jump to the league. Not saying he has pulled a lot of recruits from us, other than that "one", but he is definitely going to keep pulling more and more. It does show how the NBA doesn't have a big pool to choose from either since they are going after guys that haven't even really done anything successfully in the college game other that recruit.Comment

Guess we'll see how truthful he is......
"I’m definitely flattered by that situation," he said during a radio interview with Greg Gaston and Eli Savoie on Sports56-WHBQ. "My heart is in Memphis. I’m here. I love the Tigers. I love our fans. I started off doing something, and I want to finish that."Comment
