The proverbial chickens have come home to roost at Louisville.
Blind loyalty will lead guys like Ramsey and Howie Lindsey (to say nothing of crazies like Zipp) to protect their guy, but the reality was that the board had no choice. It was Jurich's athletic department, and for all the great things he did for the city and the university, he also used both as his personal playground for far too long. Far too many scandals, far too many misused funds, far too many sketchy situations. He had to go and the university had to get a fresh start.
To say that they face a massive rebuilding process is probably an understatement. Louisville might never reach the heights that they've seen recently ever again. It's popular to spout cliches like "the program is bigger than one man," but in the case of Tom Jurich, I'll believe it when I see it. I've never seen such a larger-than-life figure working A.D. in college sports.Comment

So finally...the adults came back.
Whatever Louisville does, it can rebuild its reputation. The state needs strong schools with some type of standards.
For any missteps he has made with firings, I have to appreciate Mitch Barnhart. Not a popular stand, but he has invested in the athletics programs similar to what Jurich is being hoorahed for......and we've heard nothing of nepotism, under table dealings, and financial shortfalls at UK.
good move by the BOT....now rebuilding and perhaps change of direction can happen.
Tyra definitely seems to be a man who will make that AD job his own. I have nothing but admiration for Padgett for the career he had as a player at Louisville.
for the crazed Louisville fans, read a book, go to the movies, say hi to your kids and grandkids. Or get drunk and cry.

Just spent time with some friends one of whom is a Marketing Prof at UL. You should hear this guy's blistering narrative on what's going on there. He's thrilled. FWIW, he said Petrino will get fired 10 minutes after his last FB game this year. Believes everyone in the athletic dept. above the receptionist will get canned. LOL.Comment
