See this is where I differ (see: Fan investment) - I can come here and read "UK has signed so-and-so" and be content. But I can't spend any energy/time worried about what may or may not happen with a portal player, or current player, or HS player. Why hasn't Oweh made an announcement? To me there's no difference in the 5 potentially returning players. There's speculation about all of them. and many times conflicting - (Chandler unhappy, leaving - but his wife is moving to Lexington), (Garrison leaving, no he's not) (Oweh received $4M offer from [whichever schools], no he loves Uk and coach Pope and would never leave for another school).

You're right its the nature of the beast now-a-days. But, meh. I'll be excited when the players suit up in the Fall. I hope Oweh is leading them.

This is a cousin to the old "We've got to put things in perspective!" posts you used to see back in the Tubby days.

I mean, sure, I'm not gonna go out and light myself on fire if we don't hear anything from Oweh. But, hell fire, here we are on a message board on a beautiful Saturday morning so we at least have some skin in the game here.

I mean if nothing matters and we're just floating in the wind, seeing what happens...then why even come into a thread like this?

Not saying there's no truth to this, but I wouldn't trust this (or hardly any other) fan-run UK account. They're absolutely garbage and present stuff like it's breaking news all the time.

1) you'll see lawyers lined up to fight a "sitting out a year" rule - i.e basically a no-compete clause without a contract.
2) plenty of NBA players make more than the coach. NCAA is no different.....now.

True and I agree about the PRO players making more than coaches, that has always been the case.

Lol... It's beautiful outside but it's cold where I am at, the flooding rain knocked out the heating system in my back office building, dressed like a eskimo this morining lol..

Personally I do come for the banter - but also the "UK has signed player X". I enjoy posters stating opinions about players "Hey, I hope UK signs player Y".

So yes, it does come back to what people enjoy. It doesn't mean anything other than that. I don't enjoy the "rumor mill" aspect about the players, but to each their own. It will work itself out in the end. Just like last season

The Alabama Oweh rumor I heard was from a good friend of mine who lived in Lexington for over 25 years after high school. He worked for "who's who" in Lexington for many years and his roots are planted deep plus he was that guy in his 30's and 40's still partying with the college students for years. Not saying he was on BCG level but this dude knows more people than I do and I know a lot....

Still, he wouldn't share that information if he didn't believe it to be true.

Like someone mentioned earlier, I am sure Oweh has been contacted and has received many offer from lots of schools...

I just hope his love for Kentucky and Pope is enough to keep him put. I don't think Kentucky will 'cheap out" and let him walk, we all know his value and worth, he will be taken care of in my opinion...

Yeah, I agree. I was just scouring the net trying to find anything I could.

Also, to justafan’s point, I have seen where a few changes are being talked about in regards to the portal. Nothing specific. But it surely can be exhausting trying to keep up.

I agree. Last year I liked the group as a whole but often wondered if there was some tension between Williams and a few others.?

Not sure if Williams was doing his best to be a leader and hold others accountable or if there was some in house beef between a few of the players?

I rewind and watch some of the games and Williams just has that "if looks could kill' look on his face sometimes..


Anyways doesn't matter, Oweh is the star of the team and it all starts with him in my opinion, it's his team...

Both Williams and Garrison were very much guys who wore their emotions on their faces for sure. Oweh kind of became that way as the year went along. Spent long parts of the last 6 or 8 games fighting with the refs.

Lamont Butler, the opposite. Never seen such a placid-faced, unreadable guy at Kentucky.
