You wouldn't think that's uncommon for a big man who was playing his second year in college (in that conference).

But when he was bad, he was *really* bad. Obviously you'd hope that a 21-year-old junior won't have that same wild inconsistency.

He's also a player that would've been disappointing to lose simply because the teams that appeared there at the end in the Final Four had guys exactly like that: players who'd stuck around and got better. They had stars, but they also had guys like Garrison.
I'm not sure what bothered me more with him. The incredibly bad shots or his tendency to being as close to getting a T as you possibly could. I feel like every great team has a guy who doesn't put up with crap from the other team, but you can be that guy without unnecessary taunting.

Another thing Garrison returning does is that it gives us a 4-man rotation in the post (with Trent Noah as a possible 5th).

I thought all last season that the 3-man (with Noah getting spot minutes) rotation was too thin and needed another player. There were times, especially with Carr hurt, where I really felt like we were way too thin in there. Shouldn't be an issue with this roster, assuming Quaintance can get healthy.

I thought his attitude was a little like Cousins'. I didn't mind it on an otherwise mild-mannered team.

The only times it was annoying to me was when he let his emotion take him out of games, which happened sometimes. But I didn't mind the chip. He played mean occasionally and he was one of the only guys on our roster who did.

This is from a random Twitter feed and I don't think this person is pretending to have any inside info, but I'd kind of forgotten about this option.

Just getting ahead of this… I fully expect Otega to declare for the NBA Draft, go through the process and then make his decision. When that announcement comes, let’s not overreact

Zero percent chance. He would have come here only on the chance he could've gone out as a draft pick.

He would've tested the draft, then portaled. Because the one-year promise Cal set up with his players would've been exhausted.

                Yeah, hence the "I keed."

He was frustrating, but it's clear the talent is there.

Another interesting thing somebody pointed out: Kentucky's centers were all McDonald's All-Americans...in three different classes. That's got to be a historic first.

Both Kentucky and Louisville could be top 10 teams. That's wild.
I dunno. Right now, we have precisely one true point guard on the roster, since Lewis left.

Even with Wilkerson on board, I'd like to shore the backup point a little bit.

I don't think he'll sign a back-up. I think he's banking on Chandler being able to build on what we saw the last 5 games.

But Chandler only played point because we had no other options.

I know he might have been a sex pest behind the scenes, but there actually is a spot for Kerr Kriisa on this roster.

I actually think he can be a point guard. Love his size, for one. If you can hit shots like he was, doesn't matter where you play out there, there's a spot for you. He was also guarding ferociously during that stretch.

I think you can patch a back-up point guard together and roll the dice on that Chandler just taking the position. Don't think that's a big deal.

The Chandler we saw in that stretch brings WAY more than somebody like Kerr Kriisa. Just on his size and athleticism alone he's a different caliber of player...

...assuming those few games are real and the start of something.

Jasper has played a bunch of PG. Why are we not assuming he'll pay backup minutes at both guard positions?

I have no trouble making myself believe it was. This kid was highly regarded before taking a 2 year break. It simply HAD to take some time to get back in the groove.

I've never seen Jasper Johnson play so I have no idea. Looks like more of a scorer in YouTube videos.

Pope if he gets Wilkerson will sub like he did last season, and probably even moreso as we should be deeper. So you'll see almost a platoon situation at least in first halves. As we talked about quite a bit last season, he's a firm believer in the metric that shows declining production the more a player's out there.

We'll have a much more suited roster for that next season than we did last.
