I know many wanted Askew to stick around and develop into a productive impact player, but I just saw no hope for that at UK at a high level. This is best for both parties. He's not gonna be a Matthews, Baker, or Juzang somewhere else. He needs to be at the mid major level. He'll be a solid productive player on that level, just don't see it happening at a big time program.

It is if you would like to see some depth at PG in another year or two. I don't know if Askew would ever develop into a serviceable point guard, but too many people wrote him off because he got put into a position he should've never been in last year.

Most underwhelming for sure. The class that Tubby recruited with, like, Shagari Alleyne and Lukasz Obrzut was awful, though.

But seriously, it cracks me up when people put out this stuff and then flip, I guess he didn't think Cal was gonna bring in players that would play over him.

Askew probably got a look at what Juzang just did and wanted some of that.

If I'm a program looking to take him I worry most about his footspeed. You can negate that with a lot of skill and/or toughness, but it's hard. Usually the guys who do it are 22 years old and are the oldest guys in a program.

Disastrous class...

...but the class as a whole is not done. Jackson was a pleasant surprise and I'd love to have him back. Toppin was a huge surprise.

But all in all that bunch was an epic fail that, if not for COVID, might have set us back years. The transfer rule has allowed Cal to dig out of the hole way more quickly than he normally would.
