I don't think Powell comes if Mintz comes back. JMO
I'm fine being wrong.
I don’t disagree, and if Powell plays to his potential and stays healthy I think we’d all agree we’d rather have him. But would be interesting to see how Mintz would do playing off the ball without the pressure of running the offense. Just hope we at least get one of the two.
Buzz around a Mintz return is growing, and it sounds like the staff sees a redundancy there and a better chance of winning now if we have Mintz over Powell.
A very, very interesting name leaked tonight, though, and if it happens, look out.

Really Downes, you gonna do us like that and leave us hanging?

The Big Blue Express guy on Twitter (who has actually developed pretty decent credibility) did a tweet/delete re: Creighton’s Marcus Zegarowski possibly being an option. He may very well be the guy Cal’s been working on, and he’d be an immediate solution to so many of our problems. He’s a GREAT guard.
I got in touch with someone a while back who gets solid info here and there, and after chatting back and forth for a while he’s been kind enough to throw me some crumbs. I asked about this and got a sly response that leads me to believe there’s some smoke here.

Current HS player Tamar Bates recently decommitted from the University of Texas and has heard from UK.
Pretty sure I read where Lucas was his lead recruiter that got him to Texas. If we were to get him I just hope he comes in with the attitude that he will have to work to earn pt, and not to get frustrated in his first season.

What leads you to believe that would be a concern? Just the way things have been for us, or something you’ve heard about the recruit?

Just because we've been bitten in the past and I think he was planning on being a big contributor next season at Texas. Honestly any recruits in that 50-100 range I would just hope that the staff reiterates what a few years did for players like PJ and WCS and that coming here and staying for multiple years doesn't mean you underachieved.
I love the idea of bringing in recruits in this range....#56 in the country, if you can keep them around for 2-3 years. Most of the time these are players that after a couple years of growing and battling against better players can be important factors on most teams. We see it all the time at other schools, just doesn't seem to happen here because they get upset when they are recruited over and they just throw in the towel and move on.
It's almost like Cal wants to win basketball games...
I really hope he embraces a little more pace and space.
