How so? Nothing's happened for months except Zimmerman.

The field is exactly what it looked like months ago for UK minus one player. It's even grown by one intriguing player (Murray).*

    * I tend to not think Mulder is anything more than a fallback plan. Murray, OTOH, is a future pro.

Blakeney, Bragg, Bryant, Swanigan, Zimmerman, Maker (he's not an option, IMO), plus the "experts" insight on the undecided guys definitely makes it seem, to me, that options are running out.

Meanwhile Duke, may get Ingram, maybe Murray, and may get Thornton to reclassify. All the while taking them from Cal and UK.

Not sure how much interest there was in some of those guys. Zimmerman clearly. Blakeney early and then Kentucky fell off completely at the end. A couple of those guys I'm not sure if there was ever any push at all. If you're going to put Thomas Bryant's name on there, you might as well add ten or twelve other players.

Of the guys Kentucky has really spent time on--getting them in here, visiting, etc.--only Zimmerman qualifies as a miss. A lot of these guys have their minds made up but play the game, and who could blame them. Mentioned this above but Julius Randle: remember how we sweated that? He said he had his mind made up his freshman year. I guess you could call him a Kansas miss theoretically, but in reality there are no questions. I'd say most recruitments go that way.

The issue with this class is that we seem to've targeted fewer players so the margin for error is slim. Zimmerman becomes a huge player if they miss on Diallo. If they miss on Newman then the you literally have no wiggle room at all at guard. You better hope Isaiah Briscoe is legit and ready to go on day one and there are no injuries at all.

Jaylen Brown - said there is no indication with him. No plans (per Brown's mom) to make any visits or set a date at this time. Daniels said it could be any of the 8 schools but the safe bet is an Adidas school
Ingram - not going to UK, staying in NC at either Duke or UNC
Diallo - said he is the player UK has the best shot with. UK is selling their history with bigs and making a huge push for him. Said he believes it's 50/50 between UK and St. Johns right now
Mulder - visiting UK soon, said if Cal really wants him he thinks he ends up a Cat.

          Not real encouraging information.
Other people are saying UK or KU for DIallo...

So you wouldn't be happy with Diallo and Mulder or Murray?? (Which I think is what will ultimately happen)

I would be thrilled and UK would be just fine and as good as anybody in the country and preseason #1 once again...

PLEASE tell me you would be happy with that.....

I would be thrilled with Diallo and Murray (Mulder does NOTHING for me). I would be content with either of them.

Listened to a few different podcast today, also the Tom Leach show this morning. I pretty much gathered the same assessment that JF did after listening to all three of them. Also did some reading around.

Ingram staying in Carolina is a lock.

You might as well just go ahead and say Mulder is a Kentucky Wildcat.

With Diallo it's Kansas, Kentucky, and St. Johns still in mix because of the staying at home factor.

Newman has been going back and fourth trying to decide between Kentucky and Miss St. They're saying he's a very loyal kid. The type that would like to stay in state and honor his father who also played at Miss St. and Ben Howland really connected with Newman at a home visit recently showing him how successful he was at getting Russell Westbrook ready for the NBA.

Jaylen Brown, yeah, anyone's guess. But everyone in the "know" claims Kansas or elsewhere, and that elsewhere not being Kentucky.

They say if Thon Maker goes to College most think Kentucky would be his choice, but there's also the possibility he plays professional ball overseas for a year, then goes into the Draft next year. If he decides to go to college he needs to get the school work done. He could be ready to be on a campus by August, if not then by December.

Diallo and Kansas is odd because you've got some people not even mentioning Kansas, some who say Kansas may be the favorite.

A lot of unknowns about these last five. Clearly Cal and the staff have made Diallo a priority at this point and are making a really hard push to try to land him. The fact that there hasn't been a counter-push from somebody else (that I know of) yet is a good sign, though I'd assume if Self were still in the mix Kansas would be visiting soon. Not that often at this stage of the game these coaching staffs let another school recruit a kid without trying to get in there afterward.

I suspect a couple of these kids don't really want to play together and are holding out because of that.

Yeah, if we don't end up with any of the remaining big recruits it would be really surprising due to there being lot of playing time and positions available. If we don't land any of them it'll just end up coming down to the fact most of them just wanted/wanting to stay close to home, didn't want to play with one another like you said, or they just don't like the idea of Cal's system from a standpoint of they won't be able to chuck it up 20 times a game. Although you would think at this juncture Cal is telling the last remaining recruits that the same system he employed this last year won't be in effect this year as he'll probably go with a 7 man rotation versus 10, but who knows.

When Mulder comes in and starts draining threes he will do something for you...

Ok. Hope you are correct. Can't imagine the track record for the 16th highest rated JUCO is all that great. Maybe he'll be the first....doubt it though. There's a reason he went the JUCO route and there's a reason he's the 16th best JUCO.

UK fans fall in love with these guys and hype them up like no other.

I hope this Mulder kid (if UK gets him) is awesome. But, to hype up and think the 16th best JUCO player is a legitimate answer for a team like UK is crazy.

How many of these guys have you heard of or have contributed in college basketball?

Jordan Goodman, Torian Graham, Shane Henry, Chris Thomas, Chris Jones, Jelan Kendrick ,DeVille Smith, Yanick Moreira, JT Terrell, Geron Johnson, Jason Carter, Cleanthony Early, Kadeem Allen, Titue Rubles....

All these guys were TOP five JUCO players the past few years...95% of JUCO guys don't amount to anything other than (at best) a mediocre contributor.

And you're burying him before even seeing anything on him. Be honest, how much have you seen of the guy other than some ranking beside his name?
