Murray would allow Mulder to just be a bit player. Would come in and immediately be able to contribute at the 2/3. Major upside but you don't know if they can get him to flip.
I believe that is what will happen.....we'll see

Interesting....gotta take Diallo (if we will come to UK) and let Maker go elsewhere, right?

To me, it seems very doubtful that Maker would come here if Lee, Skal, and Diallo are already on the roster.

I dont really see why. Cal showed this past year how he can balance the minutes with bigs with WCS, Johnson, Towns, and Lee. I am sure none of these kids has the personality of Karl Anthony Towns, but it can be done.

If he came the second semester, would he have to stay through the first semester of of the next season to be eligible for the NBA?

No, I read that he would still be eligible for the NBA draft

lol, when I read this I legitimately laughed out loud.

What did you see that lead you to think there are good vibes? (I just got back home and haven't read anything.)

We sure do need some depth. We need bigs, and a shooter wouldn't hurt.

No. The NBA has an age limit not a one full year in college limit.

If we end up with Murray and not Newman that's not the worst. The interior depth is more of a concern

You don't wait on players of that caliber. One of the guys we have behind him may be a JUCO; one of our returners has scored about 40 career points.

No way this staff wants to wait on him, which is why they've put on a press the last week.
Of course we do but at the same time, Duke kicked a player off the team and went on to win a national title with a limited bench. On the other hand, Kentucky had 12 guys including Poythrees and it didn't mean nothing in the end. Maybe it's best to stick with 7 to 8 guys, who knows??

Yep. Depth is totally inconsequential in college basketball. A lot of folks say "What if there's an injury?" Well, if there's an injury to a key player you're screwed anyway so it doesn't matter.

Having said that, there are different levels to it. It's really hard to win if you have only 6 guys. Kentucky did it with the Knight team but generally you're playing with fire if you bring only one guy off the bench; you better have a really smart team that is absolutely not going to get in any kind of foul trouble, and that team didn't. But usually 6 is not deep enough. But 7 or 8 is perfect.

The trick is having enough guys to field competitive practice and that those 7 or 8 you're playing be really high-quality, professional-grade players.

                              Couple of things.

One was a tweet from an Iowa State writer who claimed he was hearing a lot of buzz between Diallo and UK.

The other was the rumor--and I don't think it was substantiated--that Diallo called Kentucky and wanted to meet with them, then quickly tweeted that he'd made his decision.

There was also news yesterday that Kansas was in to see the 3-star center that we were showing some interest in. His people claimed that nobody at Kentucky had contacted, but Kansas went to see him yesterday. I have to think that as at least a decent sign.

No doubt that is Diallo wants to come to UK, you take him in a heartbeat. For one thing you would have him for all season, and secondly, you have no idea what Maker is going to do. I would be ecstatic to get Diallo, and would not have a second thought about taking him and giving up Maker.

Not that they aren't both going to be NBA players, but when Maker started going up against high caliber players, his weaknesses came out. But when Diallo has gone up against the studs he has done very well. I'd be happy with either, but I'd rather have one for the whole season myself.
