Matt Jones and 247's Jerry Meyer says Cal may go O-fer

Couple of things.

One was a tweet from an Iowa State writer who claimed he was hearing a lot of buzz between Diallo and UK.

The other was the rumor--and I don't think it was substantiated--that Diallo called Kentucky and wanted to meet with them, then quickly tweeted that he'd made his decision.

There was also news yesterday that Kansas was in to see the 3-star center that we were showing some interest in. His people claimed that nobody at Kentucky had contacted, but Kansas went to see him yesterday. I have to think that as at least a decent sign.

Gotcha.. Well I'm sure more will come out today for us to speculate on lol.

Jerry Meyer on a podcast this morning said that all the intel he has received says Newman flat out to Miss St. He went on to say his intel comes from multiple sources who have been good to him over the years. He also said that you just never know though, and used Briscoe as an example how up until about 36 hours before Briscoe chose Kentucky everyone he talked with said Briscoe was going to St. Johns.

Evan Daniels last night said "“I think if they’re going to get somebody it’s going to be Cheick Diallo,” Daniels said. “And I’m not saying they’re getting him, but of these elite guys left” he’s the most likely to choose UK."

Couple of interesting tidbits.

On another board someone says that Paul Biancardi is now saying it's either UK or Michigan for Brown. I haven't seen the tweet in question and generally don't think Biancardi knows much, but still interesting especially since Lavert returned to Michigan.

Also it's being reported that Newman will have in-home visits with both Mississippi State and Ole Miss before his announcement.

Very odd that he would need to sit down with both schools. The only thing I can think is that maybe he's made it known that he's staying in Mississippi.

Briscoe was definitely a surprise, and now it's looking like it was a HUGE pickup, just imagine if he picked St. johns, we would really be hurting for scoring guards. Lets just hope the that "proffesional analysts" are wrong on at least one of these guys.

ESPN's Paul Biancardi reporting that Jaylen Brown is down to Cal and Michigan. If Michigan lands him they will be really good next year.

Apparently Cal is trying to get one last visit with Newman, that pretty much verifies that Cal is worried and that he is going for a last ditch effort. If Cal gets that visit, i'd say our chances go up a little, but if he won't even meet with Cal before Friday, that pretty much solidifies with me that it's Mississippi state.

I know we need players, but I think I'm fine with "missing" on Newman, if that's how it plays out. Not sure I'd really want UK to have to deal with this, anyway.

I agree, forget Newman/Brown....Cal should be spending all of his time and resources on Murray in my opinion. And if somehow he can get Diallo to commit then I will be excited with our chances again for next season.
