Oh lord no. This isn't a probation team and I don't think anybody's suggesting that.

One other thing about this is that as far as rankings go? There are several teams sitting out there with 7 or 8 players total. Gonna be a really weird year in the sport of college basketball.

And another thing about Mark Pope: the guy is working his butt off. He's everywhere. I think back to Cal in his first season here when you couldn't turn on a TV without seeing him. Pope is doing that, just putting himself and the program out there all/every.

I have to think that's going to matter in a big way. Have no idea if we'll be a top 25 or top 40 team on year one but one thing I do know for sure is that this guy is going to do absolutely all he can to make this program relevant again.

One more player like Lanier and this team is much better than anyone would have expected in my opinion.

I don't want to put it out there but I think we are going to win and win a lot like right now. Still think we need another 6"9-70 foot role playing big then we are golden...

        Super excited!!

My main concern is I hope these new players don't look up in the ceilings of RUPP and get star struck, caught up in the moment in awe, hope they can handle the pressure.

This is big time basketball with a loud and proud fan base, this will be something new for the players on this team...

I know what you meant to post but still got a chuckle out of this.

I just read where Osobor's camp stated he would play ANYwhere...for 1.5 million.

I dunno, maybe if all the fans on different sites would stop saying how essential these guys are the market value would be up to the coaches until we get to see how the kids contribute.

Its like any other free market - prices are all over the place until they settle. The big problem is, the kids *know* the money is out there. So, how long until things settle?

You've got UK publicly stating "$4M after Pope was announced" and Cal stating "$5M in NIL money to spend". Wait until the first-of-the-season cupcake teams start demanding more money to play the higher NIL teams.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I do not see an easy way to put any sort of salary cap on this like in the pros. It would take a huge turn in the landscape - unions, incorporations, etc.

I remember when at the end of Jordan's long term contract with the Bulls, his agent came out and said that Jordan was worth the entirety of the team's salary cap. And, partially he was right. But still have to have 4 others on the court with you.

At the prices some of these players are commanding, four or five million in NIL money isn't going to go very far.

Exactly, hence my comment “the market will settle”. Meh, we’re at the whims of 18-23 yr olds.

I’m not sure what you mean, but in my family, and I believe that of the players, what you mentioned is a great support system.

As expected, Great Osobor returns to his old coach and commits to Washington.

Norlander says his NIL asking price was $2 million.

I assumed this is why UK took Garrison immediately upon Osobor's visit, and why Jeff Goodman started hinting that UK was out during the visit. UK must have heard that number and immediately noped out.
