I’m very high on Perry. His HS career was amazing. But I think it’s unfair to expect him to be the next Reed Sheppard. I hope we see him progress each year. Now if he shows up and tears it up like Reed, then WONDERFUL! But he deserves time to develop.

I've seen him play several times and I don't think he's quite as athletic as Reed. He's a great shooter though and in Mark Pope's system he might thrive. He's very intelligent and makes good decisions on the court.
He'll take the open shot but he's going to be a team first type player and won't spend his time killing ants on the dribble. I think you're right in that he deserves time to develop.

His dad being a coach I imagine that he did—but do you know if Travis even grew up in the AAU world? I think a big reason a lot of todays stars are ready to shine as freshman is that they grow up playing top competition from an early age. AAU basketball may not be the most team oriented game ever taught but it does expose kids to a bigger stage and competition than kids who just play other local middle then high schools. So they get to college and aren’t scared of the big boys.

He definitely played AAU because there’s some video on YouTube but I’m not sure how much. These teams play a lot of summer ball these days and Lyon County has a lot of video of their whole team playing that.

Unlike the past, I doubt we'll know who the starters are until the first game, and it may change after that. With so many experienced players, Pope will have to sort it all out and see who plays the best together.

But other than that it's really hard to tell where the minutes are going to come down with this team. I'd hope Carr is as good as they think he is so he can play about 30 minutes a game, like he did last season. It's always good if your four or five best players are so good they make it hard to take them out of the game.
I'm thinking if everybody averaged what they did last year we are already near 100 points a game.

                That'd be something.

Obviously there's a big difference between averaging 16 a game here and averaging 16 a game at, say, Farleigh Dickinson. But you at least have to hope that they continue their progression and hit that magic spot 20-somethings sometimes hit and we have a team that competes every night.

I have the feeling that Pope will make most players earn minutes, not just pencil in the starters. I would say Williams Butler and Brea are a lock but everyone else is fair game...

I’m guessing this group collectively played more than the available 200 minutes/game.

There’s a lot of supposed shooters on the roster. Enough shots to spread around?

And those numbers were in college, which makes them even more impressive. Perry (42%) and Noah (43%) were good three point shooters in high school with free throw percentages of 85% and 89% so they can shoot as well.

Let ‘em fly! 3’s and dunks. Don’t have to have Oats to play that game.

I am excited where this is headed. What I like about Pope is he is a FAN of Kentucky,l,oves Kentucky, wears it on his sleeve, knows exactly how we used to play in the 90's...

We in for treat when this all gets up and rolling..
