I hope Olivier Sarr gets a waiver to play immediately at Kentucky because I don’t think any transfer should have to sit out ever. But it should be noted that the NCAA has regularly denied waivers for players who transferred after their coaches were fired. It often doesn’t matter.

To get eligible Sarr will likely have to make some kind of larger hardship case to the NCAA. Let's hope he has an aging aunt who just happens to live in Woodford County.

I'd like to think Cal planned for this and wouldn't have bothered with this guy if his chances of eligibility are low.

Sure hope this works out and we have a basketball season.

I'd like to think so too. Then I think about Enes Kanter.

Somebody on Twitter mentions the fact that both Jemarl Baker and Quade Green got eligible coming out of Kentucky, so maybe that gives us some hope.

Also, just saw that Keion Brooks' dad is saying Kentucky is going to add another. Probably Frank Anselem if I had to guess.

Is it too much to ask to add one more guy with some size just in case?

All the more reason to think Cal wouldn't walk into another, similar situation without added assurances.

All the media guys are saying they don't think Sarr gets the waiver.

And there is this....it's apparently never been done (that he could find) before in this scenario.

As far as I can tell, no player has ever gotten a waiver for immediate eligibility because the coach at their old school was fired. So buena suerte Olivier, but my guess is that you’ll be sitting out next season unless the NCAA decides to do something they’ve literally never done

There's also the possibility that they allow transfers to be immediately eligible next year across the board. It could be Kentucky is banking on that rule to pass.

This is insanely huge news... with that said, Cal is still going hard after Williams from Evansville, too.

Trust in Cal. Somehow, he always manages to figure the roster situation out

Williams from Evansville. Cal is Facetiming him every night, according to Matt Jones.

Take that Forbes. Your guy would rather gamble on ineligibility in basketball heaven than to play for you and get a "prestigious" degree. Face it...WF ain't UK! And I'm proud of my degree.
