I think your math is way off on this one.

Wiltjer was too **** and couldn't jump high enough for most of us. Didn't matter that pure shooters are very hard to find in todays day and age or that guys like Wiltjer actually need a couple of years to become more athletic. I got so sick and tired of Wiltjer being a scapegoat for the NIT team but Julius Mays was the best defender to ever ever wear a UK uniform smh..... I don't blame Kyle for leaving and based on Cal's history with local kids and guys like Wiltjer, if i was Willis and Hawkins i would be looking elsewhere to play. No since of wasting 4 years watching hyped up freshman get all the minutes...................

I said in another thread recently, I just don't see us missing on all the remaining top recruits. There's just too many minutes and playing time available now that 7 guys left. I would welcome the addition of Mike Thorne. He can defensive rebound pretty well, and that's one thing we were definitely not the best at this year.

I wouldn't take his offer to mean much regarding the rest of recruiting. Even if others commit, we're gonna need practice bodies next year.

I certainly hope Cal is honest with Thorne, which I believe he always is with recruits, because he's not going to be happy being a bit player with UK, or anyone else. He's made the statement that he's going to sign with the school he feels can give him the best chance of making it to the NBA.

He will have transferred from Charlotte. He's a fifth-year senior. If he's not happy being a piece of the puzzle then he shouldn't come here.

I'm sure these coaches know how to handle stuff like this. Cal is renowned as a guy who doesn't sugarcoat things. A guy like Thorne is going to be capable of coming to Lexington and putting in work--but unless an odd series of circumstances happen, this guy isn't going to be a main cog on this team. These kinds of players never are.

Would you consider DJ a main cog as I am not sure, but he is in the NBA draft. Thorne had decent numbers at Charlotte which I realize is not the SEC but it seems like he has potential. The riches of the NBA may be enough incentive to motivate him to put in the necessary effort into making himself better and an important part of the team.

Not as his career went along. Was definitely a role player the more Towns came on.

But I saw Dakari in high school and thought he could be dominant. He never had the athleticism necessary to be a true force, but he had moments.

If Thorne is as good as Dakari, then bring him on. But so often these players are not on that level and are mostly guys who just kind of fill spots.

Which is fine. Necessary. Guys like that can help. But I wouldn't expect anything more than just a contribution from him. Nothing he's done in his career would suggest he's going to come in and blow up.

                  (Assuming Kentucky gets him.)

The only really down year for Cal at UK was when they caught without a really good PG. That is not the case in this situation. Also, had Noel stayed healthy, they may have even made it as far as the sweet 16, instead of missing the tourney.

                      Per Ben Roberts....
"Confidence on UK landing Malik Newman and/or Stephen Zimmerman waning by the day. Mississippi State, UNLV buzz is strong."

That could wrap it up if those two go elsewhere.

This has to be Cal's worst nightmare. Unbelievable

@KySportsRadio: UK would like to take two of Malik Newman, Jaylen Brown and Brandon Ingram. As of today, may be second choice for all three (but it's close)

                          Very odd.

But it was an odd class. We heard that months ago.

Clearly those guys--except maybe Zimmerman--are still open to listening. If not they would've likely already committed. So Cal could maybe get in there and Nerlens Noel one of them at the last minute.

                          Hope so.

Jones can kiss my grits but that is for another thread.

However, it looks like UK is reaching for things. Cal is recruiting a 5 year transfer center and now is hot after a JUCO shooting guard. We need players.

We just sent 4 big men to the NBA draft along with Orton, Davis, Noel, Cousins and now we are begging for someone to come play aith Skal but may not get anyone but a transfer from non power conference just hoping to get a chance to get into the league. Geez.

Not a whole lot of big guys in this class. A lot of tweeners outside of a few. That's why the Zimmerman-to-UNLV news was disappointing. Very strange make-up to the whole class.

I guess the only silver lining is that if he can get one of these guys remaining and then pull in the transfers, then you've got some experience to go with the stars. But you don't want to go in without getting any of these top flight recruits because JUCO and midmajor transfers aren't going to be able to pull that much weight.

My only hope is that every year somebody's out there saying we may not get any of these guys, and it never turns out that way. People bet their mortages on Nerlens Noel going to Georgetown. I even heard a lot of talk about Julius Randle not coming to UK, but it was interesting in that recent blog post that he said he had his mind made up for literally years.

These guys drag their recruitments out so often because it builds their brands.

You know how much GERD that caused me to experience from fall 2012 to spring 2013? Lots!
