Exactly,if we drafted the legends, it would totally take away the whole era of UK players. This is about UK.....

Another aspect, what about the players that we came very close to getting?? Off the top of my head, X. Henry, Wiggins, and a few others.....

The college game to NBA is sometimes weird. Some great college players of the past who went to the NBA never really panned out while mediocre college players become solid pros,It's hard to explain....

That's a good idea, Will. What if instead of any college player we did only a UK rival? Someone who played for Tennessee, Florida, or Louisville. Maybe even add in a few others like UNC, Indiana, etc. I like making it after 2000 as well because that eliminates most of the all time greats. I'm ok with trades as well as long as everyone has the same amount of players. But maybe set a limit on it like one trade a piece so we don't get into a big fiasco of scrambling to get a player you want. I don't think we should be able to drop a player to pick up an undrafted one though. We have plenty of time to make a decision, if you screw up you screw up IMO.

I'm certainly not the final decision maker though. I want us to agree on it.

I like one trade apiece. And I actually like JWORLD's idea about free agents. We could pick up one player that Kentucky came close to getting that played in college after 2000.

"Close" would be defined by a guy who we were clearly recruiting but didn't get. But again, NBA success doesn't play into it and the worth of that player has to be about college success.

But of course we'll need to finish the UK draft first.

This is draft 1.0. We can evolve and develop this as we go in years to come. Still wish about 10 to 15 more posters would have been involved. It would have been a longer process but no super teams lol lol lol lol....

Sounds good. So, after we draft our UK players we each pick one guy who UK was recruiting but missed out on after the year 2000. After that we have the ability to drop one player and pick up one player who went undrafted. After THAT we each can make one trade. I think we should be able to keep the draft order as well so it doesn't turn into chaos. Whoever is up has the option to drop a player and sign a new one, then whoever is up the next round can make one trade offer.

Im just going to put it out there. If you like K. Azubuike, draft D. Liggins and let's trade lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol................... I need a 3 way pg/sg/sf lol lol lol lol lol..

It's not like Azubuike wasn't a freak, here's a guy who scored over 50 in a NBA game even though the NBA doesn't mean anything in this draft. If you need a scorer and freak off the bench, Azubuike is your guy...........

                Let's trade...................................

For me drafting UK players and then having a voting tournament to decide who has the best team is enough for me. I don't see any need in trading since we don't have a season to play like in fantasy sports. Also don't really see the need in drafting a player for another school. This is a UK team and I don't want a player from another team "corrupting" it. Sorry to be the contrarian but I won't be participating in any trade or drafting of players of other teams.

I believe Downes is still on the clock unless I missed his pick. He has until 12:15, right? Jworld made his selection at 9:15 last night.

You certainly don't have to offer or accept a trade. I'm fine with no trades and I'm fine with one offer each. Maybe we can take a vote about having a round with trades? Also, regarding the opposing player, I understand that point of view. Maybe if that's something we want to do we can do a five player draft of opponents next month or something? I'm fine either way so maybe we should vote on that as well. Maybe setup a poll for each?

I agree with Kevin. I vote no on the non-UK free agent thing. Bringing in outside players spoils it for me.

Plus - and I think this is the big one - adding a legend from another school would completely undermine the work we've done to be competitive in our selections. The point of this was to choose the best possible players from a select group. If I'd known I'd be able to choose Magic, Kareem, Iverson, Ewing, etc. after my final pick, I'd have used a completely different draft strategy.

Could be something we do later in a different draft, as teamchemistry said.

The "almost came to UK" trapdoor of history is completely fascinating to me.

Or I could just give Kevin Tyrone Nash and Downes Draymond Green.

And yeah, I like the "almosts" game, too - just not mixed with what we currently have going on.

But can we trade one UK player for another or subtract one current player on the roster and pick up a non drafted UK player who wasn't taken????
