My two cents...last pick in the NBA prolly means a G League stint...for how long...who knows. Probably safe to say Oweh will get more at Kentucky.
He's gonna take the info from the NBA and work on things at Kentucky. But anything could happen.

Also using Bronny as a second round pick example is laughable at best....at worst it was Webster's definition of nepotism

The average two way contract is about 600k. Bronny currently has the highest ever at 1.1 million. Even if Oweh got a better one than that he's making more at UK next season. He's coming back.

There are other second round picks with lucrative contracts worth 8 to 9 million just last year, but these are exceptional.

It's not about the contract at this point for Oweh Imo.

If it was about the money, he wouldn't even be at the combine.

Unless we just assume he's flat out stupid, he's smart enough know that he will make much more coming back to Kentucky than going for the NBA.

The NBA is most kids dream, opportunity, it's a status prestige thing...

I think it's more about staying in for the duration to get the necessary feedback from his evaluations so that when his eligibility (because once his eligibility is gone so is NIL) runs out after next year he is in better position to be drafted in 2026 and secure a pretty good financial future for himself and his family.

Personally, I would like to hope that someone has performed an income analysis for him: Potential income in NBA as pick #XX over the next 3-4 years vs. staying at UK a year and potentially moving up in the draft.

Of course there is always the chance he could move down.

Those are (to me) seemingly easy factors to compute. A FC would know how much his NIL money is for 2025-26 + potential NBA 2026+4 years versus NBA 2025+5 years.

Ignoring a potential payday for a 2nd NBA contract - the two main variables are how much his initial contract is this year or next year. This year should be easy enough to throw out Bronys and speculate from there. Easy to plot out both scenarios. A UK+2026 NBA would be slightly more guessing (how far, if any, does he move up if he/UK has a good 2025-26 season).

This is all it is and it's been talked about like this for months. He is one of the small percentage of college basketball players who will be able to play professionally and this is a long game. He wants to get his feedback, work on said feedback next season in college, and play himself into the first round next year to get a better opportunity than MAYBE end of the second round.

The issue with him now is how do you factor in the chances of actually making a team if he gets drafted in the second round (and that's a big if) vs a two way contract vs just a G league deal. If there aren't teams guaranteeing to use a pick on you in the second, is a $50,000 G league contract worth the risk of losing millions for another year in school?

2nd round money is not guaranteed at all. Oweh has said on more than 1 occasion that he wants guarantee contract money. Meaning first round. He is so far not sniffing anything close to first round. He is set to make very good money at UK this coming year. Plus free room and board, travel and major TV coverage. He has a year to work on his craft and get even more consistent. My guess is it is 75% to 25% he is playing at UK over the NBA this fall. If his combine goes well then that can always change.

I still think seeing guys like Robinson and Butler coming back for improving their stock and getting injured has to be going thru Owehs family thoughts.

Yep, I agree. I’m with the masses that believe he is coming back. I’m just learning what his potential salary could be at UK. Thanks to you guys. 😎👍

This is where NIL has changed the game. He could come back, break his leg the first day of practice, and still get $2 million in NIL money. If he is a second round pick with no guarantees and does that, he's automatically unemployed, no income, and has to rehab on his own.

So NIL is contractually guaranteed someplace?

                              That’s a good question.

I found this to add to the conversation. I’m not especially fond of this particular site, “John Blue and White.” Someone wrote up the story and has artificial intelligence reading the narrative but it makes sense.
