Well, what's the rotation? I'm dreaming of Pope pressing every minute of the season and have two platoons with seven guys each. That's a lot of fouls and a lot of athletes.

Now, I know that's not going to happen. How many do you think he plays and who?

He kind of platooned a little last year if you stretch the definition of platoon. He liked doing the NBA thing, where they run in a second team, giving the first rest so the roles between the two "platoons" are very defined. That didn't work great because the back-end of the bench was pretty weak...but it did maybe help Chandler become what he became at the end.

I imagine he'll do the same with this team. I think they'll all play a little with the exception of Potter and Hawthorne. I'd say he'll try and split Quaintance and Garrison pretty evenly with Moreno being a sort of patch player the way Trent Noah was last year. Dioubate and Jelavic at the 4 with the split there being dependent on how physically ready Jelavic is to play over here. On the perimeter Lowe and Johnson will probably be the platoon, Aberdeen swinging from the 2 and 3, Oweh of course, and Williams getting plenty of minutes on the wing in the role Almonor was playing last season.

Noah is the odd man out in all that but he could win some minutes at the 4 if he plays as hard as he did last season. I can see him and Jelavic being in a little scrum for PT, particularly if Jelavic is like some of these Euros and backs away from contact. Noah's nose for the ball is highly intriguing and if he's the 13th man, we have a team.

Probably looking at Lowe, Aberdeen, Oweh, Mo, and Garrison as your initial starting five. Won’t be our best shooting lineup, but should be tough as nails.

In days gone by the coaches would try to get a couple of these guys to redshirt.

i doubt we see that much.

I believe that'll be the plan with Potter, maybe Hawthorne.

The real issue with redshirting is that everything is year to year, so the idea that you save a guy for way down the road is almost absurd. If he redshirted, Hawthorne would be a senior in the 2029-2030 season. That's not even a real year. Talking a family into that would have to be savagely difficult...but I sort of believe that he chose two close-to-home guys, because those are the only players you could get to do it.

Has Jelavic been officially cleared by the NCAA?

You wouldn't think that would be an issue in the wild west we find ourselves in. (Maybe getting into UK could be a problem, a la Big Z.)

If the NCAA ruled against Jelavic, then Kentucky fans should picket the heck out of Illinois, a team made up almost entirely of former eastern European pros.

Agreed. Still not sure if he's been cleared, hope this isn't a KANTER or Z situation..

Related: if NCAA approves the move, next season foreign players will be required to have a "Letter of Clearance" to play NCAA basketball.

Ivisic had problems getting cleared at UK, so you’d hope that after that experience the program will have an easier time with Jelavic.

If the NCAA tries any shenanigans, then I say we march on Indianapolis .

I always kind of thought those situations were a result of some kind of axe that the NCAA had to grind with Cal. To be fair, Cal brought some negative attention to himself when he consistently made it sound like the NCAA was out to get him right after the selection show. I may sound like a little bit of a conspiracy theorist, but I thought had those two kids been at school at just about anywhere else they would have been cleared almost immediately.

The Big Z situation was more about UK.

Kanter came at such a different time that I don't even think there's any context for that anymore in college sports.
