If you are good enough to make 2 million a year playing college basketball, no reason you shouldn't be playing pro ball in the NBA...

The NBA remains a pretty different sport. There's obvious crossover but sometimes these guys are really good college basketball players who, for whatever reason, don't have much NBA potential. Usually it's because of size.

There's also a weird thing where occasionally you see guys stand out in the NBA who weren't really stand-outs in college. Doesn't happen much but it does occasionally. usually because they left college too young and really made a jump when they hit their 20s.

Danny Manning Jimmer Fredette would agree.

Based on what we have seen over the past few years, players like Great Osobor and Johnell Davis may not even have a pro career, the NBA may assume they are too old especially under John Calipari. If you didn't go pro after the first year maybe the second, you was deemed a bust lol lol....

I won't be comfortable with the players we have coming in until they are all on campus...

          Food for thought...

Since College is now pro sports, players getting paid.

How about the NCAA set a age limit at 22 maybe 23 and make all players under that age fair game, pro or college??

If you have a player who entered the draft at 19 and sat on the bench for two years until his contract was up, why can't he be eligible to play college ball at age 22 if he wants to go back to school??

Why not, it's way out of control anyways. It's not college anymore, it's semi pro ball anyway you look at it....

If we are going to tear it down, tear it all down.

Doubt it happens, but I hear ya. If a kid graduates high school and goes to work in a local factory and hates it, he can then go to college. If kids can now make millions in NIL while in college then why would a little time in a pro league taint you for college ball? Maybe it’s the pro coaching you got? Didn’t Ivisic get pro coaching in Europe?

Strange times and the rules don’t necessarily make good sense.

I was simply responding to justafan's comment. These are the folks who not only support these young players, but also expect to benefit from them.

Yes, what Lighthouse said! One would like to think family has the player's best interest at hand. Sadly, that is not always the case. Sometimes its about instant gratification for the hangers-on. Coaches whisper about a player's posse/entourage/etc. Basically saying sometimes the coach has to dance around their involvement.

If you're interested in reading a book about those hangers-on, and the complicated relationship between those people and the players they're hanging onto, I highly recommend George Dohrmann's excellent Play Their Hearts Out. Fascinating book that digs in to the skeevy underside of basketball.

I was pretty slick. Was able to avoid the sleezy “handlers.” In fact they knew better than to even approach me.

                    Sorry about the bragging.

Or what if it's set up like the Euro leagues. Get drafted to the NBA but fulfill Euro/NIL contract until it's up then go to the NBA.

Pandora's box has been opened, college is now semi pro minor league or whatever you want to call it but it's still pay to play professional sports now..

Hoping to hear more good news soon about recruiting. Watching Coach Pope and his staff build a team during this transition has been a fun time.

6'7 220 Kid visiting today, shot like 40% made over a 100 threes last year from what I read..

We need another big and 6'7 isn't what I had in mind but PJ Washington Corliss Williamson even Charles Barkley was under 6'7.

If 6'7 is al we can get, so be it.

Still need one or a combination of Lanier and or Jackson, team is GREAT!!!!

As of this moment, it sounds like things may be swinging UK’s way for Lanier.

It would be a nice consolation prize and payback for Chris Lofton...
