We can blame NIL and Cal will use that tool as his excuse but it's a COACH/PLAYER problem, ball don't lie....
Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with this.
I'm not discounting NIL totally and I have to think it's a problem. But this thing looks like it runs a lot deeper.
Just on the surface I think it's pretty obvious that last year was a catastrophic disaster and I hope one day a book gets written about it. The way they all bailed out and didn't seem to be even communicating with UK is super weird.
Lighthouse says above that it's a pattern with Cal, and I agree somewhat. But it seems like last year was just a different animal for whatever reason.

Definitely. Players realize that they won't be developed here as well they could be, that the staff no longer bends with its roster as well as it used to do, and simply put Calipari no longer garners the attention and respect he did even 5 years ago.
The idea that Reeves could come back and get his classes just so he could transfer might have been the biggest throat punch of a pretty awful day yesterday.

It's almost hilarious.
As often as we bemoan the fact that our guys never graduate? Yeah, it’s a bit ironic.
When i think back specifically when this shipped started sinking in regards to players mumbling behind closed doors on the streets, i go back to Wenyen Gabriel. Seems he was the first i remember to let it be known and many just assumed it was bad blood but the more and more you look at it, he may have been on to something. Jon Hood's father publicly blasted Calipari and his coaching, somehow i don't think they are the only one's talking behind closed doors. Of course star players like KAT AD Cousins Wall and a few other will forever remain loyal to Cal, this new age of players are not buying into the BS he's selling these days, that's a major problem for us.
On the other side of this, many UK fans will argue to the grave Calipari hasn't fell off and he's brought in the number one class of freshman in the nation with the 4 great players on paper. I have to believe this year is the exception and it's fool's gold. Wagner is here obviously because of his family connection to Calipari, people who are forever loyal to CAL. The other incoming freshman have bought in on the idea of fielding a Freshman Super team with Wagner, obviously the AAU relations and bond is good enough for others to come to Kentucky and support Wagner, just my opinion...
What about Rondo, he still coaching at Kentucky next year?
Many of us remember the Kentucky version or Rajon but he went on and had a great NBA career and earned the respect of NBA legends and Hall of Famers. In my opinion, i think we are getting a better version of Rod Strickland but that remains to be seen provided he is still on board to assist this upcoming season.
Cal tries to smother the naysayers by basically saying nobody knows the full story of what's going on. Also says that now the program can move forward. The trouble is, so many programs moved forward yesterday even though they had the same kind of uncertainty.
John Calipari @UKCoachCalipari
I woke up this morning thinking about our team now that the NBA deadline has passed. We support all of our players as they weigh their options and pursue their dreams and it’s my job to make sure these kids are making informed decisions. It may not be what you think or I think - but it’s informed. But that also makes it hard to move until you really know what your roster is going to be. We’ve prepared for all scenarios and now we can move forward. There’s so much misinformation out there and most of it we can’t address publicly. Numbers being thrown around just aren’t accurate, who we are in contact with or who we are not in contact with, we don’t make it public. We want players who want this culture, who care about winning, understand what it means to play at Kentucky - both how hard and how rewarding it is - and have the ultimate drive to win and succeed on the biggest stage, which helps everyone. We have a talented group right now which isn’t finished yet, but when it’s done we will have a talented team who will chase the ultimate goal together and make #BBN proud.

My eyes almost rolled out of my head reading that. Ok, John. Just freaking win.
