Of course that shouldn't be the case with Reeves.

How we can't convince him to come back is arguably the most shocking thing I've seen in the Calipari era. It's truly crazy and of all the stuff that's happened, that one is proof positive that something is bad wrong.

And the wrong you're referring to is Cal and his relationship with his players. At least that's what it appears to be. He can't entice players to return, and other than the incoming freshmen, can't recruit. How he stays here knowing what a mess he's made, is beyond me.

He got Oscar to come. He got Reeves to come last year. He got Kellan Grady to come. He got Jacob Toppin to come. He got Nate Sestina to come. He got Reid Travis to come. Back in the day he enticed Josh Harrelson to stay. He got Darnell Dodson to come.

It's weird that this team crumbled apart on him the way it did. Suggests either the makeup of this team was really bad in the locker room or something about Cal has changed with the way he relates to players--or both.

I realize he has brought players here. What I'm talking about is lately. This year we had several transfer and he has had a couple on campus this hear who would have made a huge difference and couldn't keep them. That could have been for reasons out of his control. Whoever was paying Oscars NIL money could possible be able to get Reeves back. I don't know, I'm just frustrated with this whole situation.

No wishy washy from me. This upcoming season has been the “target year” for several seasons. That is to say I’ve tolerated Cal’s roster building crap every summer because this year was to get us back to his early days at UK (because of a highly rated legacy kid and others who want to play with him). At this point I expect very little from the upcoming season. Would love to be wrong, but imagine we’ll have some glaring holes and not make any meaningful postseason run. Hopefully Cal will move on at season’s end—whether they surprise me/us or not. Hoping we have enough players to practice is NOT fun.

I feel that every time we all go depressed about how the program was going we just kept saying "but just wait until 2023". Well here we are and unless something magical happens it's really going to be a letdown.

I think what people are saying is that Cal isn't cutting it, but the roster debacle is not entirely his fault.

Not sure what others' feelings are. Mine are that what's happening now is something different than we've seen from Cal during his time at UK. Just throwing it in a boat with "Cal has sucked for years" doesn't really answer what's happening now.

HOWEVER, I will say that we have been moving toward something like this for quite awhile. I think there are reasons it's as bad as it is--most on Cal, some not--but I did make a post four or five years on here that had a title with something like, "We Can't Keep Building Rosters Like This."

When the recruiting pipeline starts to dry up you can't just keep leaning on the old tricks. Cal didn't adapt. So yeah, that's part of why we're here.

It doesn't get at the whole shebang, though.
