UofL might have handled this poorly and it could cost them; it'll have to be decided in court.

But they had to get a clean slate. You can't just keep remnants--everything had to go for them to get a fresh start.

For years at UofL there have been different factions operating from inside. It wasn't that long ago that two Boards of Trustees were going at the same time. You have to have leadership, and the only way you do that is be disassembling the whole thing and starting from the ground.

Pitino said in his interview yesterday that they should've gone the North Carolina route and fought it. That's ridiculous and indicative of the incredible, staggering ego the man has.

Also says a lot about the opinion of UNC within the profession.

Even if UL has to pay the full salary/contract of Jurich and Pitino they are better off. They built a house of cards and eventually that will fall down. This one just was built a little higher than most before it crashed.

Pitino's interview yesterday was a little bit sad, a little bit infuraiting, and a whole lot ridiculous.

          Talk about a raging narcissist.

Going in a different direction, I really like David Padgett. Not that I keep up with UL too much, but watching the news these last few weeks, he is just very likeable.

I really imagine papa JS was done with Jurich when the financial review was done.
I cannot understand these Louisville fans stating a man giving that much money didn't have the right to have some accounting for where that money went.

Look, I saw UK lose Sutton, Mumme, Ivy, Newton, Hagan. Some of those names are UK HOF. I NEVER remember an uproar that these guys shouldn't have been relieved of duty. It comes with the big chair. Hit an iceberg and the Captain goes with the ship.

What is really bizarre is how many times Louisville fans stated UK fans had no sense of balance when it came to sport.

So Rick knew. I mean, we all know he did, but he took a lie detector test, goshdarn it!

                        That's up to the FBI.
More than likely it's enough ammo to save Louisville 44 million dollars in payouts.
the board of Trustees are probably tickled Pitino said they weren't Louisville Men. His type anyway.

Apparently the information released from the indictment is no different than what was known earlier. Essentially, the same guy, in the same conversation SAYING Rick knew, but still, as it was weeks ago, "he said, HE said".

There is no new information since the initial news that got Rick fired. When I saw the headlines, I expected there to be new, concrete indication (phone recordings, text messages) implicating Pitino. Such information may still eventually be forthcoming, but this is essentially the same information, repackaged.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I'm guessing UofL already has sufficient support to withhold the $44 million. This news says nothing different than what they already knew when they fired him.

It's he said/he said, but the "he" in this case is one of the two guys the FBI has built the entire case around.

If Dawkins is saying he pushed Pitino to call Gatto, you have to believe the FBI thinks that info's legit. Considering that's their informant right there.

If they thought Dawkins was bunk then there would've been no case to begin with.

                                Yes, Will. I get that..............

My point is, the information just released isn't new and it isn't any more damning than the original information, yet the headlines treat it as if it's additional, new information.

Everything in the new release is essentially in the old release, except the addition of Dawkins saying Pitino made the call. That much was intimated in the previous information over a month ago.

How in the world are you reading in my response that they might think Dawkins "was bunk"? I've merely stated this isn't new information, yet it's treated as if it's MORE damning than the original release. That's all.

The FBI puts credence into Dawkins testimony primarily because their target was the shoe company (or companies). The coaches in this particular sting were secondary. The coaches in the other stings that have been charged are charged because they accepted or took money involving the transaction.
