In my opinion, it's a shame that, for all of his contributions to the UK fb program, when Marty's name is mentioned the first thing most people mention is the Peach Bowl fumble. That's the nature of the human beast, I guess.

Guilty! But I also know he was a top notch player. Hard not to think of that play when someone mentions his name.

I guess most of us think of it, at the mention of his name, Cathy. What I meant to say was that a lot of people seem to still be down on him, on account of the fumble, after all these years.

I suppose I'm wired different than most. While I was at that Peach Bowl, witnessed it live and while that particular play was one of many I've seen my Wildcats make that simply knock the wind out of your sails like a punch to the stomach, that particular play by Marty was not even in my thoughts when his name/picture was brought up. I guess I'm the forgiving type.

Mike Siganos - another of my fav players. Interesting story about him. One of the summers while he was a Wildcat, I, and some friends went to Red River Gorge in SE Kentucky. While there we went down to the river and were doing a little sight-seeing/ hiking and along came two canoes that beached where we were. Mike Siganos pops up out of one of the canoes and another guy got up but it seemed to take him forever to unfold and get out of that canoe. That guy was Mike Phillips. Was a great day to be a Wildcat fan in the Gorge.

Here's a pic of Dean (on the right) with another former Wildcat great Warren Bryant. I couldn't find a pic of Dean in a UK uniform although there are several on the 'net from his days in the NFL.
