I enjoyed the book, but the reviews of "Girl On The Train" have left me a bit cold.

Good movie. As far as space movies, my all time favorite is The Right Stuff. I watch it anytime it is on.

Just now?? Oh, man, good for you. That's an incredible film. I have stuff like that set aside, too - music, movies, books, etc. that I know are good, I know I'll like, but am just sort of saving for later.

In fact, I wouldn't even say that I actively save that stuff - it's more like I'm just glad to know that there's still good stuff waiting for me when I'm ready.

I don't know what took so long. I think I was busy when it was THE thing to see and then it was out of sight out of mind. I also have pretty limited tv/movie time anyway and that is usually spent with the wife so... collaborative decision making and a slow menacing burn isn't her thing.

I was sorry to have waited because it is one of those I'll watch once or twice a year in perpetuity.

Glad you saw it as it is a fantastic movie. The ending was really the only bummer because the rest of it was just so great.

I don't think I quite got the ending.

I faintly recall Googling it the day after I watched and reading some interpretations, but I can't remember what I read.

Not that it hurt the movie for me, but I remember sort of sitting there a bit baffled as the credits began to roll.

After Bardiem's character had the accident, he just walked off and we never saw him again. Then we were left with the scene we saw a few times in the movie with Tommy Lee Jones staring at his reflection in the tv. Again though, Great movie.

The subtext of the movie was about (at least for Anton) was a philosophical question of fate vs. random chance. The car accident played with viewers expectations that he would be caught and made Anton the victim of the conundrum that he refers to throughout the film. It was unsatisfying yet to me... interesting.

Sheriff Ed on the other hand has been musing about the past verses present as it relates to human character and crime. My take from his last two scenes is that both from a human brutality sense and the mundanities of life, the human experience is the same as it ever was.

I saw it a month or so ago. Any movie that my wife and I begin watching together, that she doesn't care for, I'll try to catch it later by myself. It might be awhile, but I'll eventually get to it.
