Agreed. I think this series got away from him. The last published book still had characters alive that are long gone in the show, PLUS introduced new characters that are major players. With Martin's rep and history, the series will be finished by......someone else.

I believe Martin gave a rough outline of one way it MIGHT end, and HBO asked him to stand back, we got this.

Avengers Endgame was an entertaining spectacle, but like most superhero movies, it evaporated for me almost immediately after walking out of the theater. Very impressive movie making. I will say that the plot holes were absurd.

I liked Endgame but I agree with Blue Heaven's take above. Too much sappiness and melodrama that didn't register for me and not enough of the action that made the last movie so effective. I don't even know who all the characters are so in that last movement I didn't feel emotion, I just wanted it to be over.

It's good for what it is but like KC said, I haven't thought about it at all since I left the theater.

There are things that hit me in the feels out of pop culture. Star Wars being the main one, because I was raised on it. Comic book movies just don't get to me in that way. Having said that, there are some scenes in Endgame that make you want to pump your fist in the air, and it does have some important lessons about unity and teamwork that all Americans could take to heart. But if you aren't extremely into the Marvel world you probably won't get the full effect of this.

Oh, and my family and I were trying to find an action movie this weekend and checked Google for recommendations. The computer spit out an odd one: Liam Neeson in Non-Stop.

Thought we were just in for 90 minutes of mindless entertainment, but what we got was a really clever whodunit wrapped in a solid action flick. Yeah, if you're looking for depth this isn't the movie for it, but if you want a script that stays a little ahead of you for its entire running time you can't go wrong with this.

I liked it better than Endgame.

Agree with your Endgame take Will. I was never a comic reader growing up, but the first Iron Man got me fully invested in the MCU. I have seen every movie since. I knew all the nods to the other films and all the little nuances of them. Endgame could have been so much better than it was. IMO, the best Marvel movies in no particular order:
            Iron Man
            Captain America: The Winter Soldier
            Thor: Ragnarok

            Both Guardians of the Galaxy
            Avengers
            Avengers: Infinity War
            Spiderman: Homecoming
            Isaiah 5:20

Lol......it's comic books. Entertainment. I've reached the age I don't need anything other than enjoy a few hours of escapism. I was a comic nerd for years, so I was familiar with a bit of the fun and games.(old enough to remember Captain Marvel was a man....and the first death in the Marvel Comis series.)

              For me, best Marvel were
              Captain America the Winter Soldier
              Civil War
              The Avengers
Infinity War/ Endgame.....just a mammoth five hour movie over two years.
It will be fascinating to see what the final numbers are....the movie has reached 'event' status where some will go see it that care nothing of MCU...they just want to be part of it.

Lol....opening up with Steve Winwoods 'Mr. Fantasy' playing in the opening was nifty.

I'm not sure about this. "Wonder Woman," "Aquaman," and "Shazam!" were all critical and financial successes. That's three steps in the right direction, which is huge, in comparison to where DC was about two years ago.

Absolutely LOVED Aquaman. It was on par with some of the best Marvel movies IMO. Can't wait to see Shazam!.

Overall, the best DC movies were those with a bit lighter touch thrown in. Justice League SHOULD have equalled the Avengers, but lack of a good villain and too much on the dark side.

Saw The Commuter this weekend, which is kind of a thematic sequel to Non-Stop.

Not as good as the first movie but it's got a very entertaining second half; in fact the resolution and how everything turns out is probably more clever than the other one. My entire family--including my 12-year-old daughter--loved both these movies.

Highly recommend if you're looking for escapist entertainment.

It looks like they probably NAILED this. What a cast. Bill Hader as Richie Tozier is inspired casting.

The trailer looked a lot creepier than the one for part 1. Old people in horror movies really pumps up the creep factor for me. Can't wait to see this.
