Everyone keeps saying that Alex is going to be on next year's roster, last thing I heard Cal say was that he is not told him if he was coming back for sure or not. That is going to be a massive blow if he doesn't come back.

    What are you hearing JF?

People said that after BCG's last year, too.

Yeah, but Noel running into that stanchion had a lot to do with that.

Most any team that Cal has had with the exception of this last year wouldn't have been able to withstand a major injury. That team was destined for mediocrity anyway, but it would've been alright and Noel was the main cog.

You let any main player on Cal's teams get hurt and the whole thing would've deathspiraled.

If you have thin numbers you just can't afford an injury. Next year's going to have low numbers. In that way it'll be the same as 2013. But 2011 was similar as well, and I think that team was one of Cal's most skilled teams.

Actually not hearing anything at all real recently. Kind of odd.

Last I was told is that he was 50/50. He was getting insight from doctors and NBA teams. I was told he was fine coming back but if there was an option to go he was going to take it.

Kentucky has reached out to 6-11 Charlotte transfer Mike Thorne, he tells @SNYtv

I just read on Twitter that he will be visiting UK on April 24th. Said he needs to find a place that can get him to the NBA. His measurables sound pretty good, his production was just ok though at Charlotte.

I'm glad he's still posting. As far as I know, he's the only one who posts on here that has an inside source.

Thank you. But, just want to verify I do not have an "inside source" perse. I had a guy at UKAA but he took a job at another school last year.

I still know some people (from when I worked at UKAA) who talk to inside people but I do not communicate directly with them.

He had some pretty huge games, mostly on the rebounding side. Rebounding is a thing that should translate as you move up levels.

I'm not sure what the overall success has been with these fifth-year transfers since the rule came in. The Horford guy really struggled for Florida (although he had a decent game against us). The Wesley guy from USC had a solid year for Gonzaga. Julius Mays was hit and miss.

Mostly these kinds of guys are just plugged in and meant to be bit pieces and not main players. If they were true gamechangers they obviously wouldn't be opting for a fifth year in college and would likely be making money, at least in Europe.

Well that's more of an "inside source" connection than it seems the rest of us have.

Look forward to hearing some GOOD news from you in the next few weeks about the staff feeling good about landing a few recruits.

And I really hope Alex comes back, I think a good season could mean a lot of money and at least a small guaranteed contract for him after next season.

I agree that these fifth year transfers are never a big impact, but without Mays it would've been an even more dismal season.
