I like the new rule: as long as they don't have an agent they can go do work outs, get feedback from NBA scouts and make a decision by May 25th to proceed or go back to college.

If Archie Goodwin could gamble leaving college and manage to not only improve, but survive in the NBA, so can Briscoe. Goodwin has actually become a pretty decent pro player. Only problem for Archie is that only two are needed at the one and two spots, enter Bledsoe, Knight, and Devin Booker for the Suns.....Comment

Not really, the NBA salary cap is sky rocketing and his contract will soon be up. He's going to be able to land a solid deal for years and get paid. Whether he's a allstar or not, his agent can pitch his case and get him a deal. Luckily he's still young enough he can still improve. His PER needs to be improved.....Comment

Briscoe is a much better all-around player than Goodwin, but he's in a pretty similar boat NBA-wise. Only difference is that Goodwin was a much more explosive athlete, so I think he was a little more enticing to NBA teams. Neither could shoot a lick, and in an NBA that's beginning to covet shooting over explosivess that hurts a player like Briscoe. Briscoe basically isn't going to get drafted and would have to go the Aaron Harrison route and find a way onto a team.
I don't understand going if you aren't even close to the first round, but Cal causes a lot of this. When you sell the "Get in and get out as fast as you can" model, you get players who are going to jump when they aren't ready. Briscoe is the very definition of a player who could help himself by returning and working on that jumper.Last edited by Joneslab; 05-12-2016, 06:49 PM.Comment

Having said all that, I think Briscoe comes back. Listening to Cal yesterday in the press conference it sounded like he was counting on Briscoe returning. Already had entire gameplans set up where he mentioned Briscoe by name.
Clearly though the Briscoe family is looking for that promise from an NBA team.Comment

Cal has established such a culture of one and dones at UK, that it seems the highly regarded h.s. players feel they're a failure if they stay longer than one season.Philippians 4:11-4:13Comment

There are Buddy Hield cases, but most of the time if you come to UK or Duke or Kansas, you're going to be high in those projections before you ever play a college game. Most of the time the only thing college can do is hurt you.
Briscoe is a strange player though because he has this enormous gap in his game with his shooting. He looks to be one of the rare players who could improve that part of his game and help his stock.Comment

One thing to keep in mind about Cal UK players. Though it may seem as some are a bust, look at the ages of most of his NBA kids, most are not even close to being in there prime, they are for the most part still very young. Kanter may not be considered a UK kid, but this dude is becoming a beast for the Thunder.Comment

I don't think Briscoe is ready but i still think he's a NBA player down the road. His defense and ball handling should get him some clock. If he can hit a freethrow, that is going to help him out tremendously, he can get to the rim at will...
He's not ready yet, but he can be with another year or two of working hard....Comment

I would assume they got that worked out beforehand. Cal wouldn't allow a situation where Briscoe decides he's going to come back and then (oops!) he's academically ineligible.Comment
