Lose, imo.
Cal's history shows his teams could get up in big regular season games, particularly in the middle of the season before he got bored.
After those big games there was often a pretty substantial letdown. I'd say Wagner, Davis, and Big Z combine for about 10 tonight.Comment

Glad that you and I are on the same page on this one, especially with the 10 points combined.
In some ways, I feel a little responsible for the Cal Arkansas loss. All the yapping for 6 months about Cal, Karma is a you know what. Personally glad he left and let UK off the hook for all that money but also ticked on the other side of it all that he just couldn't get it figured out the past few years.
Maybe it was just a dream all along but I am going to miss having that 5 star freshman who could be the next big thing on the roster year in year out. The "what if" potential in some ways created hope. I do hope that Pope can find a way to land some of those players in the future even though it will be a one and done situation, same as NIL really..
I wrestle with this in my mind these days. Would I rather Cal handling one and done's (Freshman)year to year or Pope handling one and done NIL players year to year?Comment

Pope. Because everybody is gonna have to be handling portal players. Get rid of Pope and the next guy would just have to do the same thing.
The trick will be keeping those two to four players who can be difference-makers. Because you aren't keeping them all, not Mark Pope and not anybody. That's one reason you see a lot of these long-time coaches bailing out of the college game.
You return Oweh and Garrison next season and that's about all you can ask for. The portal has become too powerful.Comment

Agreed about the getting rid of Pope (Not that i want that)
Calipari opened up Pandora's box with the one and done (Duke, etc.) and now that has all been amplified with NIL, every coach is dealing with ONE AND DONE in some type of way..
The only thing that concerns me with POPE is his system ( i love it) is if it's too complicated to learn on the fly year to year for some players.
Does he need to simplify his offense it to make his system work on a year to year?
Cal just throws the ball up and let's the players play while stomping and screaming hustle and defense physical play.
We can all agree that Cal is not stupid, he knows X's and O's when he wants too. Still i think him getting a taste of the NBA transformed him into a motivator type of coach who's more into the psyche of a player more than the X's and O's. In the NBA you let them play (because they are very talented) and hope they commit to defense. Cal realized if he could get the best players he could coach the NCAA game like the NBA game in my opinion...Comment

Did anyone catch the CAL interview in the tunnel after the Kentucky game?
Big Z was walking through mouthing to Kentucky fans and Cal stopped and yelled to Billy to stop it and rolled his eyes.
Cal loves and respects his 15 years at Kentucky, i do believe that.
