Wow. Train wreck city.
This situation here is like when you break up with a girl and you're bummed but you know it's time, you had to do it, and she goes out and immediately gets with the town's suspected serial killer and gets hooked on meth. You know it's the right thing and you're happy with the new person you have but deep down you can't help but feel a little sorry for her.Comment

I think we know the answer now.

Really does. I read he injured his hand in the Florida game, I believe? He's played injured for what, 3 or 4 more games now, and it's bad enough he's out for the year? Sounds like another case of Cal letting a kid's "handlers" control a situation.Comment

Yep. Because the point isn't winning college basketball games. It's individual success. And that's a completely wrong way to think about coaching a team sport...and it's the main reason IMO he "lost his fastball," as everybody likes to say.
Jones is having Jay Williams on today. Jones ranted mostly about Seth Greenberg yesterday, claiming that Seth essentially runs a PR firm for Cal. Jones also alleged that Greenberg had sent him some "nasty" texts about Cal, to which a few other college basketball journalists jumped in to say they'd received similar texts from Greenberg.

Let's see....
start a season with high hopes. Two or three projected NBA first rounders
Tantalizing win early on.
Odd substitution patterns.
Mysterious season ending injuries that no one is actually sure what happened.
This all sounds familiar.
Arkansas will win a couple games they shouldn't by all rights...somewhere, somehow. Too much raw talent even if it's not deep.
But has to be disappointing to Arkansas fans that were thinking of Sutton or Richardson runs.Comment

Yeah, I do.
Cal didn't break the law here. He didn't run us into sanctions. He didn't run us into Shame. He just was a bad coach by the end, and if you're a bad coach and making that much money then you probably are, technically, a crook.
But I didn't see him that way. Just a crap coach who, obviously, can't accept it.
So I do feel sorry for him...but I don't spend a whole lotta time thinking about it or anything. All in all I don't really care. However I'd probably be a lot more salty if we were sitting here at .500 or something because of the players he took that we could've had. But considering I like our players and really like our coach, none of it amounts to a whole lot in the end.👍 2Comment
