The SEC tournament has never been more electric than back in the mid-90’s. It’s cool to go into Atlanta or Nashville and see nothing but blue mist. But it was incredible when we actually had a fan base rival. It was all blue and red and was a blast.

I can assure—at least when they have a good product—they care about hoops.

I think most SEC schools are football schools but Arkansas has a powerful basketball tradition. Outside Kentucky, they're probably the closest to a "basketball school" as we have in the SEC. As Catsrock said, when you go to the SEC Tournament their fans generally come out in force.

And I bet they're totally beside themselves at what they've gotten themselves into with Calipari.

I remember the Nolan Richardson days...didn't they always call it 40 minutes of hell

No doubt. Nolan Richardson about to do a John Chaney on CAL and put his hands on him...

I despise Louisville, Duke, Carolina, Kansas, UCLA. Even though Arkansas is a rival, I always had respect for what Nolan built. Those fans love there basketball team, the tolerance level in the deep south is probably a little more extreme than it was at Kentucky. Cal winning a Championship here bought him alot of time, he doesn't have that option in Arkansas from the fanbase in my opinion. They want it and want it now especially with all the money spent...

Hope you are right. We will probably get their game of the year where they play out of their mind. That is my concern.

Probably. Cal always had a thing where he'd rise up and get big wins at times you didn't expect it. (Unless the games were in March.)

They really can't shoot though so you think a clever, analytics-driven coach like Pope could really exploit them for that. You can backpedal on almost all their players and basically do what Kentucky's was doing last night, just sagging back into sort of a hybrid man/zone.

I gotta admit...Arkansas struggling at first was kind of satisfying...maybe it was me as a fan saying 'see we were right'...but now it's just kind of sad for Calipari. At his peak there were few...maybe no one . ..better.
now .... it really isn't enjoyable. I still want that win at Rupp...but this is getting kind of...uncomfortable perhaps?

                      Yeah. Same.

I hate to pile on a guy. But when you've lost it, you've lost it. He's making millions and is basically getting waylaid by this new, analytics-drive, older game. So in that way I don't feel very sorry for him. I mean he's probably sobbing all the way to the bank.

I don’t hate or even dislike Cal. But no pity here at all. There is a great chance the best day in Arkansas basketball history is coming up in June. Tournament or not Fland will get drafted and a couple others may as well. It’s all still working fine.

True. It will be Cal’s Super Bowl ya know. 🤣

They did indeed, and that's pretty much what it was.

Same here. Hate to see him going out like this, he did a lot of great things at Kentucky, he's not a bad person at all.

Be our luck his teams shows up and plays out of their minds at Rupp..
