Wallace drafted 10th and Livingston was last pick of second round. Congratulations to both.

Toppin and Oscar have until 5 pm Monday to call up the AD and come back to school, wouldn't that be wild????

Still convinced both will make more through NIL than turning pro at this point if indeed it is all about the money. How much is NIL and possibly playing for a National title worth? For Oscar, could very well break some records at UK..

His ceiling is peaked in my opinion in regards to draft status but can become another Pascal Siakam with the right team right system, i think the drive and work ethic is there...

Kentucky forward Jacon Toppin agrees to a two-way contract with the New York Knicks, according to NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

I think Toppin can play a little in the NBA.

And Wallace going that high didn't surprise me. He's gonna be great.

But if you look at what happened last night, and what's happened in the last few drafts, you get a really solid reminder of why what's happening with Kentucky basketball is happening. One player taken early and one taken as the very last pick...well, that about lines up with what sort of talent UK was putting on the court last season.*

The situation is going to look different next June (not saying our team will be better, but I do think Cal has tried to get the thing back to a situation where UK fields NBA-caliber players).

            * Oscar is different here because he was insanely talented in one really important facet of the game.

Weird thing about this guy: Kentucky would be his fourth school.

The guy can flat out play and would answer a lot of questions immediately.

Mitchell is visiting UK this weekend.

FINALLY fills that Chris Livingston role that Cal has been searching for with Johnson, Kaluma, and some others.

I will admit I'd never heard of this guy until last week.

But if you look at his splits from last season you see a player who sort of reminds you of a Jacob Toppin. Some huge games...followed by games where he did almost literally nothing.

That might mean little. Could be the team he was on more than anything. But assuming UK gets him you'd like to see him be more consistent as one of the few vets on the team.

Hold on this guy. Zagoria doesn’t mention UK as a possibility and says he hasn’t set up visits.

Smells like BS. I bet we get him.

Jack Pilgrim, Kyle Tucker and (most importantly) Andrew Slater are all suggesting otherwise.

                          I would assume he's Kentucky's to lose.

Maybe but you can see it unfolding the way everything else has this off-season. Kentucky fans and experts virtually guaranteeing Kentucky...only to see it fall apart once the actual recruitment starts.

The difficulty of Kentucky getting an older player with the way the roster is made up, and the pressure from inside the team to keep the young nucleus intact without any interference, can't be dismissed. Doesn't mean we *won't* get him, it's just harder for Kentucky than it is anyone else. Plus on top of that you've got the general haplessness/exhaustion/whatever we've seen from Cal so you don't have the wind behind the UK sail the way you had a decade ago.

True, but in this guy’s case, he’d be stepping into our biggest area of need. The opportunity is there for him, even with the current makeup of the team. He has to see that.

                                You would *think*.

But judging by what's gone on it's unclear that's actually what they see. As we discussed with the others, I think it's possible that what they see is: Aaron Bradshaw, Klutch, plus a situation where Cal's gonna ride with Bradshaw no matter what to try and get him drafted.

This guy might be the better player but as we said with Kaluma, I'm not convinced it has anything to do with that. I think what they might see is a team built, basically, so that it can get guys drafted rather than a team assembled to win college basketball games. And in that dynamic vets might get squeezed out.
