Yeah, Edwards is a legit all-SEC type. You get a guy like that then Kentucky all of a sudden has the kind of roster that could contend.

I've heard nothing about whether there's interest from any of these WVU guys in UK.

Have to think Oscar will still have a shot to get on with a team as a free agent. Can't imagine he'd go through all these workouts, make the decision not to return to Kentucky...and then return to Kentucky. The draft isn't the end for a lot of these players.

Yes but if it's G League, promise you he will make about 25 times more by coming back to Kentucky, G League players average like 40k per year. Oscar could do well overseas but if it is about money for him and his family at this point and time in his life, Kentucky offers the most in my opinion....

I sorta think Sarr was a Ryan Harrow sort, i.e. the kind of player who coulda done it but just didn't have the mentality to do it. Skal was another one in this boat.

Looked at a few mock drafts and based on speculation, Oscar isn't even projected in the top 58. I want to see how this plays out but still feel we are short on bigs. Even with Oscar's flaws, would gladly take him back if it was possible at this point, would feel much better about this team going into the season...

Obviously, if Oscar wanted to come back, you take him and thank your lucky stars that the NPOY fell back in your arms. But he's not coming back even if he isn't drafted, so you shouldn't do that to yourself.

My money is on Tre Mitchell from WVU, and that is a solid consolation prize.

Pardon my thinly veiled dig at Cal. We were already into this mode of scrapping together a team midsummer at that point. We had a highly rated high school class coming in. We had a transfer (Mintz). We had some experience coming back. Sarr was supposed be to be the missing piece. We got him. Oops, sorry we ever doubted you Cal, you’re the man after all.

Sure, I hope we land Edwards from WVU. But what will it mean? Nada till we see them on the court. Little reason to believe right now. That summer was similar to this one, and last one, etc.

I'm of the belief that *most* of the time highly rated freshmen and transfers who have performed well at other places do pan out.

The problem obviously is that if you have to fully rely on either it's very hard--and in fact nearly impossible if you use history as a guide. Best-case scenario is you have a three or four players that you bring back to keep some stability in the program and then add those parts to a couple of highly rated freshmen or solid transfers. As we all know Kentucky hasn't even come close to that (although I am looking forward to Thiero and Ugo).

Supposedly pretty good. I think it'll be much different than the Bahamas. Baylor went there last year and IIRC got beat by 20+ one game.

Say Oscar isn't drafted and he comes back to Kentucky. Is his stock any better next year? He will still be a short center. Personally, I would love to have him another year, but I doubt he returns.
